- Emese BFrankfurt, Germany297 contributionsBelieve in SantaThis was my second time in SCV, the first one was the classic winter trip soon after Xmas a few years ago, so at the second time I preferred off-season. Given the Xmas-focus, it isn't the same feeling in the spring but Santa isn't overran by tourist hoards and one can get into his office for "audition" literally without waiting. So a trip off-season is always has a point.Visited May 2023Travelled soloWritten 28 May 2023

- Sue CDublin, Ireland16 contributionsWhat visiting Santa n the north pole is about! Magic. Now this is what Lapland is about! All the magic. Lots to do Mrs Claus was so good. Kids said that was there favourite. Elf restaurant was really nice. Couldn't get over that the fast food place closed at like 6pm. Husky farm was great. Activities are expensive but worth it. The only one was snowman world, its small and the big slide wasn't even opened so only one small out door slide and a small ice skating rink. The different rooms are cool to look at though. This was over priced for what it offered to be honest. The reindeer ride was so peaceful and surreal. We had such a nice guy and his son guiding us. Just a magical place. Kids wrote there Santa list and posted them in the boxes provided. Crossing the artic circle was so good and the live camera is great. We rang family and got them to log on and look at us waving at them. Great! It can be cold standing round so good thermal socks and boots and clothes. Just a great place. Forget Santa Park. Not a patch! Don't waste your money there.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 29 July 2023
- ZebramaniiMatlock, United Kingdom119 contributionsMagical PlaceIf you visit Rovaniemi and don't visit Santa then why did you even come? This is pretty much the main sight in the area and there are various things to do once you arrive. The highlights for me, aside from meeting Santa, was getting to go for a walk in the woods with a reindeer, visiting the husky park and having a ride in a sleigh. One thing I should point out is that this place will be very busy around Christmas time, as you might expect, I went in late November and it was not too bad, the queue to visit Santa was not excessive and it moved fairly quickly. Another thing of note was that while visiting Santa is free, they do charge if you want a photo/video of the experience and that, coupled with the price of the other attractions on site and as well, food and souvenirs, it could end up being an expensive day, that said, I did buy the photo and I did pay to get the gift from Santa and I spent an whole day there, so while it dinted my bank balance somewhat, the experience was something I'll remember for the rest of my life.Visited November 2022Travelled soloWritten 29 July 2023
- Boyd JMaleny, Australia1,688 contributionsWorth Visiting, Even in SummerIt would be almost criminal to be driving through and staying in Rovaniemi and not make the short trip out to the Santa Claus Village. Situated right on the Arctic Circle it is heavily commercialized with a photo with Santa costing Euro 35, and even in summer there was still a considerable queue to meet Santa. Nonetheless it was good to visit. It would have a lot more allure in winter I imagine with the lights twinkling everywhere and a blanket of snow.Visited June 2023Written 2 August 2023
- Richard MPhoenix, Arizona457 contributionsSanta is JollyWe were off-season, so no crowds. I was told it sometimes took 7 hours in line to get a Santa photo. We waited about 7 seconds. The shops are interesting, and putting one foot on each side of the Arctic Circle for a photo is fun.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 September 2023
- pavanl14 contributionsGreat day out!A great day out for me and my husband. Highly enjoyable for 2 adults in their early 30's with no children. We ate at the 3 elves restaurant which was a lovely atmosphere as well as good food. Great to see the village during daylight and darkness. We spent the hours between 1.45ish to 6pm there. Transport was very easy to and from. Walking around was fun, as well as visiting Santa, posting a postcard to loved ones, seeing reindeer and husky's.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 November 2023
- Sil P3 contributionsLovely experienceBeautifull place!! The decoration, all the activities offered, all the retsaurantes are very good, specially Nova, glass and santa salmon place. The hole village is a dream for kids and adults. It is quite pricy however everything in the area is. Get the souvenirs there as in the Rovaniemi city centre theres barelly any place with anything niceVisited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 November 2023
- kaya47London, United Kingdom89 contributionsWorth breaking the bank forThank for the most magical time. We didn’t even have time to visit it all in our full two days. I hope you take really good care of those reindeers pushing people on sleigh 7h a day! There is no shop here, you have to go to the garage across the road. They also serve cheap food and cheap beers. For wine or anything else you have to travel 2km. You will absolutely spend a fortune we did aprox £350 a day for 3 of us, the memories will be worth it.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 9 November 2023

This is such a magical place! I took the Santa express bus from my hotel in the city center, which was very convenient. There is so much to do here- reindeer sleigh rides, husky park and rides, snowmobile rides, souvenir shopping, etc. And don’t miss the opportunity to visit Santa!

Very dissappointing. It's a great idea, but it's clear they didn't have a vision when they were expanding. There is no overall look & feel, the decorations are moderate at best. Could be so much better!

Mine and my hubbys first visit to Finnish Lapland and we stayed at Santa Claus Village for 2 nights. We arrived at night so everything was lit up and all Christmassy. We loved the addition of the Christmas trees out the front of each chalet. We enjoyed Snowman world, Reindeer sleigh ride and meeting Santa (a tip for cheap food go to the Shell garage over the road)

Worth a visit if you’re in the vicinity. Several food options and bars (Such as the Loft and Gallis restaurant) All staff are friendly and welcoming. However I’d recommend more for families with children. The reindeer sleigh rides mimic those of a fun fair, just a short walk around a track. Huskey rides looked similar, but we did not experience. Not sure if the animals are looked after and cared for as well as the family own companies (Away from Santa Claus Village)
As you can expect prices are high for the Santa Claus commercial aspect. €30 for an adult to visit the reindeer etc. So be prepared to spend big if you want to do the activities.
A very average experience, but for exploring the area, crossing the artic circle and having a few drinks in the bar, or dining at the Gallis restaurant then we highly recommend. These were great experiences for us. Especially after long days of excursions else where.
Sadly alot of real fur on display and being advertised for purchase in multiple shops. Disappointing to see in 2024 that this is considered acceptable in a place that welcomes children, when so many companies in the world are following the ban on fur. A big let down to see. Maybe this is common practice in Finland?

We visited this on a group tour from Kemi. We were well aware that it was mid summer, and it would not be like Christmas but prominent and permanent advertisements for burgers and other fast food near the entrance tainted our initial image. Father Christmas was in residence and there were the usual gift and tourist shops. We found the Arctic Circle markers interesting especially as the the temperature was a surprising 23 degrees Celsius. The "village" was not very busy - which suited us and visiting at the appropriate time of the year would probably improve the experience, and be great for children

This is by far the most touristic place I've been to. It is free to visit - as far as I know.
There are some buildings around the crossing of the Arctic Circle, most of them are souvenir shops or café's.

I was really looking forward to this as part of our itinerary- being a huge Christmas fan this was a bit of a highlight which sadly did not meet my expectations. I am not sure what I was expecting, but I could not, would not have envisaged the reality of this place which was essentially an assortment of tacky souvenir shops and over priced restaurants. There were a couple of activities (reindeer sleigh ride, husky sled, photo with Santa) but these were expensive and gimmicky. Fortunately there wasn’t the huge crowds they get in December, but the queues and bodies everywhere still detracted from what was already less than impressive.
Take time to choose souvenirs - we were surprised at the discrepancies between stores for the same product and got ripped off more than once.

Such a cute day out for all ages!
Very magical, lots of photo ops.
You don’t need to come here just at Christmas, as it’s just as special in March.
Lots of souvenir shops and places to eat.
Really recommend coming here

While it is kinda hokey, and primarily a huge souvenir shopping experience, we enjoyed our visit. We missed seeing Santa and paying $70 for a picture with him.

Hi, we are visiting Santa Claus Village in a couple of weeks.
Do we need to book to visit Santa?

No you just line up. We were there early so pretty much walked straight in. I understand cues can be long. Enjoy your trip 😀

No, you will not need a reservation. We were staying in Santa Claus Holiday Village and noticed that it was very busy during the day. So trying to visit Santa Claus might take a long time in the cue then. It was a lot easier to visit him relatively early in the morning or in the early evening after 6 p.m. No cue then at all and Santa had a lot of time to talk to us then.

I have a silly question. On the "Santa Claus Village - Arctic Circle Webcam" in the center of village I see many people pulling kids on a plastic sled. I want to know if those are sold or rent nearby, and if so, can anybody tell me the price? I have planned a 4 days trip to he village (hotel there too), and I don't plan to go Rovaniemi city center (unless anybody tell me it really worth doing so for one day).

There are some which are left by the coach / car parks which you can use for free. Just make sure you leave them there afterwards for the next boy / girl. Whatever you do DONT TAKE ANY FROM OUTSIDE A SHOP / RESTAURANT OR TIED UP AS THEY DEFINITELY BELONG TO SOMEONE.

ciao a tutti!

Do you need to pre-book activities in santa claus village or do they take walk ins?
BECKS777
ENGLAND281 contributions
It depends on the activity and time of year. Shorter reindeer or snowmobile rides are queue up and do it, longer ones you have to book. Take a look online at the Sant Claus Village website and you can click through to the different providers sites for prices and booking details

Hi, has anybody done the Arctic Crossing ceremony which you can do with the santa's reindeer company at Santa's village? This one:

Keen to know if its worth it or just a gimmick
thanks David
