Pruhonice Park and Castle, classified as part of the Historic Centre of Prague - UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992, is one of the crown jewels of the Czech Republic's national historical parks and an exceptional example of a European landscape park of this style. Covering an area of approximately 250 hectares, the park has a privileged location just 15 kilometres southeast of Prague, making it easily accessible and a perfect destination for either a sunny afternoon or a long weekend. Pruhonice Park is home to 1,600 different kinds of plants, including 8,000 rhododendrons (one of the largest collection in the world) and a unique 3-hectar Alpinum, as well as ponds and streams, 25 kilometers of pathways and a beautiful castle complex with its old church dating from 12th century. This rich combination of natural, cultural, and scenic values, together with a host of exceptional scientific and recreational opportunities, makes Pruhonice Park and Castle an inspiring example of Earth's most important heritage and perhaps Prague best getaway.Nowadays, Pruhonice Park is part of the Institute of Botany of the ASCR, one of the research institutes of the Academy of Science of the Czech Republic, that besides to conduct fundamental research on species, populations and communities of plants, is the organization responsible for its management and maintenance.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful park close to Prague and easily accessable by bus. It belongs to just as beautiful castle but you can visit separately. It's a nice walk during any weather and any season. There are so many attractions, views, sights and sceneries to see. The park is huge, it is really a whole day trip to walk around the whole park. Keep in mind that you need a paid ticket to visit.

I would recommend this beautiful park to everyone! It is super near to Prague and not crowded at all. The park is also huge so you can spend the whole day there.

I visited here for a few hours but wish I had spent longer. It is a gorgeous parkland, with lovely walks. I only did the shorter walk but it was really enjoyable and quite easy going. There are machines scattered around the parkland telling you details about the trees, fauna and landscaping design. It is available in a few languages including German and English.

I caught an uber out to the park, but it was not too difficult to get back to the Prague old town on public transport. (1 bus and 1 underground ride).

This is an outstandingly beautiful castle with a well maintained park and water features. There are interactive consuls dotted around the pathways which identify the trees and plants around you. Abundant birdlife too. Woodpeckers and kingfishers for example. A fee to enter is justified for the maintenance costs.

Not many people, everybody polite. Cool parking lot guy.
One of the nicest parks even in winter.
50 CZK parking for whole day, 50 CZK adult entry, 10 CZK dog entry, toilets by the entrance.

I went there in a cold morning in November with my friend during a short visit to Prague. We took a taxi from the city to the park. We spent there around 3 hours walking around the lake part and between the trees. It was amazing place, very quite, very enormous spaces (you can lose your way, keep a map) and still we walked in less than 30% of the place. We saw different trees, the feeling is like walking in a forest, trees in autumn colors due to the season and still very beautiful. it was so peaceful there. There are few seats on the walking path and the place was keeping its natural feel. You go up and down hills, and see different views. I would love to return again to this place in the spring or summer.
The only problem I had was that to return back to the city I couldn't easily find a taxi, and had to get a hotel limousine for much higher fare. plan your full return trip in advance!

Very well kept park with fairytale look and feel. Many rare flora species, lakes of different sizes, cute trails, scattered benches, miniature waterfalls. Very romantic and relaxing place.

I arrived in Pruhonice quite early and after leaving my baggage at the hotel wanted to spend a few hours walking and the park seemed ideal. I’m glad I did, not much else in the center of town aside from restaurants and a spa. I could have spent many more hours walking the paths and just relaxing after a long flight.

I recommend the exhibitions in the castle where you can look quickly or dive in deep. I learned about various trees, food crops, gardens, and a variety of vegetation. Much is in Czech, German, and English.

The yellow trail is fastest and the easiest, red and blue are longer and have more hills. I did a combination and it’s easy to shorten any of the walks if pressed for time. All the photos I’ve posted are from along the yellow path or courtyard. I may return tomorrow as it was just a great way to unwind and relax.

This park is really large and signs can be confusing so make sure you don't get lost as we did. Beautiful though!

Reasonably sized car park priced at 30kc's per hour. There is a small fee to get into the gardens, also reasonable. You can walk around at your leisure, or there are a couple of walks you can take which are marked out. I think there is a 2, 5 and 10K. Grounds well kept and clean. Nice walk. (Only tip would be to take a map if you choose the walk as there are some paths which split but are not marked.. or take pot luck)
