Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing wine cellar in downtown Neive. Historical building and wine cellar underground, pleasing owner, high quality wines, great wine tasting.

As many other reviewers have pointed out, this place dates back to the 16th Century and it has been making wine continuously since then and as a result, has a fascinating history to go with the very interesting wines. This is a small winery and one feels like you are sitting in the living room of an old friend. Make room for buying the wines, you can find clothes anywhere, but wines like these are much rarer.

Nice winery with an amazing ancient cellar builds hundreds of years ago under the building and the garden. It is unique and a MUST if you want to visit an historical handmade traditional CANTINA PIEMONTESE.
Unfortunately, it is in the center of Neive which makes it too busy, too commercial and too crowded. The tasting room is in the entrance of a typical Piemontese house but it lacks of space and calm to really appreciate it. The lady attending us was maybe a bit tired as she was lacking of passion, being too rushed, jumping from one guest to the other without creating the kind of atmosphere and relationship a guest is used to when is visiting a vineyard.
Last but not least, although we spent more than 130 euros, we have been charged with a tasting fee of 10 euros which we never experienced in 7 years in a row going around so many different wine yards in Langa. Poor experience with the exclusion of the cellar…

Cantina del Glicine doesn't look like much from the street. The tasting room is quite modest, with a large table and communal chairs around it. The mature lady who pontificated over the wine tasting is a funny character and makes you feel welcome. The cellars are amazing. Dating back to the late 1500s, they are built with bricks, and constitute a maze of tunnels underground. The winery produces a 12 different wines and about 4 grappas. Some of the wines have received important awards, such as tre Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso, Italy's answer to Robert Parker. We arrived late in the afternoon, and after tasting wonderful wines at three other locations, so we were less impressed by the wines we were offered at Glicine: they were good, solid wines, but none had a nose, and the finish was short and vanishing.

This place is a hoot! We were hosted by 2 elderly women and I felt bad that I ddin't speak Italian, but she did a great job and we had some help from a bilingual customer. As others have noted, the tour of the cellar is worth the price of admission. We loved the natural stone, the mold/fungus, the snails. Did I mention it dates back to 1582? And then there's the cats, beloved by the women and ever present. The wines were quite good and even though we didn't have room in our suitcases, we bought some anyway!

The cellar is quite an experience, the oldest in Italy still producing wine. The wine tasting is accompanied by different types of cheese and hazelnuts. It costs 10€, well worth it. The lady was friendly and welcoming. I believe one shouldn’t miss il Glicine.

If you've been doing something since 1582, you must be doing it right. Short tour of the ancient wine cellar (hence, 'cantina,') and a lovely, unrushed tasting in the sunny, inviting tasting room. BTW cats factor heavily in the signage and labeling for Glicine which sets well with me (being a cat lover.) I think we sampled 5 or 6 wines and all were amazing. Highly recommend.

Wonderfully family run place.
Welcoming, friendly and good wine!
Highly recommend - our youngish family (8, 10, 12 years) were looked after and made most welcome.

(Ignore the 2 negative reviews - one clearly from a commercial tour operator looking to make money from the hospitality of a family run enterprise and didn’t like being caught out!)

We got a nice tour in the magnificent cellars from the 16th century and a tasting of their range of wines. Very nice Barbera d’Alba and Barbaresco. Also nice grappas from their pwn vinaccia.

Glicine has a cellar dated back 500 years and is the oldest in the area. We made an appointment to have a cellar tour plus tasting. The winemakers and nonna are extremely hospital, we throughly enjoyed our visit and their wine. We purchased two bottles of their Barbaresco and the tasting fee was waived. What a deal! Lovely town it is located, really lucked back atmosphere for some strolling around.
