Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Extremely helpful! I was very nervous at first, having never tried on a kimono, but they helped me every step of the way! Not only was the service excellent, they spoke Japanese to me when they knew I was studying Japanese. This was wonderful considering some people would refuse to try to speak Japanese with me seeing I was a foreigner. Photos turned out great and would TOTALLY recommend!

We had a blast doing the photo session in our Kimonos. They did such a fabulous job getting us dressed and their photographer was wonderful! We also received our photos in an extremely short period of time, which was very impressive. I highly recommend doing this if you visit Tokyo, totally interesting experience and very memorable. Thank you so much for giving us such a great experience!

We loved our kimono experience! The owners, Samantha and Koji were welcoming and nice. They have a coat rack for your winter jackets and they also have storage for your bags. The place is well organized and has tons of kimono selections to choose from. You can choose the color you prefer — if you’re not sure, they can help you out and suggest the choices for both upper and lower garments and the accessory to complement the outfit altogether.

Once selections are made, they then proceeded with putting on the kimono. After that, the indoor pictorial commenced. If you don’t know how to pose, they will direct you and make sure you look fantastic on the photo!

Since we selected the Meiji Jingu Shrine package, we walked with our photographer to the train station and making stops at scenic areas while walking towards the JR Yamanote line. Meiji Jingu Shrine is nearby the Harajuku station, which is one stop away from Shibuya station. Here’s a tip: the kimono rental is good for 4 hours. The clock starts ticking the moment you exit the shop with the photographer. Upon arriving at Harajuku, we stopped at the entrance of Takeshita Street, which is a popular street in Harajuku, to take some photos. After that, we started walking towards Meiji Jingu Shrine. On that day, it was cloudy but the surroundings of the path going to the main shrine was beautiful — lush green trees all over the place! The photographer was nice and directs you on how to pose so as to get the right shot. We got lucky on that day because we saw a Japanese wedding! After some time, the photoshoot was done and we had the time to roam around wearing our kimonos.

When we got back to the shop, the indoor photos were printed and ready. The quality of the photo paper is really nice and they also give you a cute give away!

After a couple of hours, we received the photos for both the indoor photoshoot and the Meiji Jingu Shrine photoshoot — people, they are that efficient!

These guys have been doing this for a long time already and they have figured out how to please their clientele. I highly recommend this activity!

Amazing experience. I booked it by myself and everyone was very nice and made me very comfortable. The photographer picked me from the subway station. A great selection of kimonos and extras. I was dressed like a real Japanese lady and my hair was done in a traditional way. Photo session was amazing and walking in kimono made me feel very real. Pictures came great. Great value for a money too. Highly recommended

It was highlight of my few day trip to Japan. I did not know how much it takes to put kimono, so it was a cultural lesson. My hosts were amazing, very accommodating. Pictures came out better than expected. They really made me feel like a Japanese woman for a moment. Great experience

Kimono Kawaii Company truly takes extra measures to ensure you feel extra welcome and special. They are quick to answer emails and give you advice as well as freedom to choose your own kimono attire. The photographer is exceptionally professional and knows exactly how to make your photos look absolutely beautiful. This was a highlight from my solo trip to Japan and I would recommend it to everyone visiting. I might even visit again!

Samantha and Koji were a delight : ) The range of kimono and props were so kawaii cute ; )
A great opportunity to experience a traditional dressing including all the layers and accessories. We were worried about cultural misappropriation however were made to feel very at ease and we got a lot of giggles from Edokko people when we were having our street photo shoot which made the whole experience enjoyable.
We were greeted at an easy to find meeting place and escorted to the studio where we were dressed and had a quick studio session before heading out with our photographer who got some fun shots. After your hour photo shoot you are free to walk around Shibuya and return on your own - it was excellent value for money and you are emailed ALL your photos.
I would recommend it for anyone - even our Japanese friends want to try it now : )
