Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The museum is excellent. The ancient stone statues blew me away...quite evocative... they have a real presence and character about them. Very memorable.
Stayed overnight in the pilgrim accomodation. Basic but very atmospheric particularly at night time. Felt like I'd learned something of value about the ancient history of this region.

we visited when the medieval festival was on. The lift is handy and has interesting images on the walk way.
The castle itself is beautiful and has been kept so well. We enjoyed falconry and fireworks.
Will return

Castle rooms contain many fascinating individually carved stone statues dramatically lit. They date from 3000 BC and are unique to this region. Interesting films in English.
Castle has good views from battlements. Combined entry fee for castle and statue exhibition.

Well worth the visit. We went at about 4pm, had an unhurried and fascinating visit with the guard courteously waiting until we had finished looking around before closing up. Good souvenir shop, great views over the countryside from the castle. The steles are amazing and the films are in english too. All very well done.

Access to the castle seems to be joint with the Stele museum, but at E5 each we didn't mind!
Good views but that's about all really, would have appreciated the opportunity for gelato or drinks there but only a souvenir shop. Note the castle and museum closing times!

We walked up to the castle called the 'castello del piagnaro' as we were told that in the museum there are the statues which are called ' Statue Stele'we believe that they are unique in the world and are found only in Lunigiana. The castle is at the top of the village and you can take wonderful photos also the views are lovely. The famous 'Statue Stele' are beyond belief ,carved in stone they are amazing. They look like creatures from outerspace (at least i thought so) and each one is different.Although i have done quite a lot of travelling in my life i have never encountered anything like them.Well worth a visit, you will find them fascinating.
