beautiful wood works
12/2020 • Pariskunnat
a huge and beautiful house, especially the wood works on ceiling, doors and windows. a part of the exhibition is on the house and its history, another part on actual issues, at the moment plastics and recycling. worth the visit.

Grand old house, great scenery
11/2020 • Pariskunnat
Monday 9th November and we visited the town of La Oliva in the northern region of the Island, where this building is located.

The grand old house was closed when we visited, closed Sundays and Mondays.

Although the house was closed we were able to walk around outside and wander through the crumbling old out buildings.

The House sits with a backdrop of impressive mountains.

There is an art gallery in the house and there is an entry fee of €3. Not sure we would have bothered with the art gallery had it been open.

The restored property was inaugurated on 25th November 2006 by King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofua.

Sadly a number of structural cracks are evident on parts of the building.

We were the only visitors here, so we were free to ramble around freely at our leisure.

A number of squirrel like animals were running around the grounds.

Impressive 18th Century Colonel's House and now a Museum
12/2019
My wife and I visited the Casa de los Coroneles on a cruise ship excursion taking in the best sights of Fuerteventura. This 18th Century house was formerly the residence of the island's colonel. It's an interesting historical monument which has been restored and is now a museum / multipurpose cultural centre.

There are two floors with a central courtyard and the upper floor offers some great views of the surrounding countryside. If you are interested in the history of the island this is the perfect stop-off point.

A really interesting place to visit. Well worth the effort!

There is a lot of information in this house with regard to its history. We loved wandering around the rooms of the house at our leisure and although there is no furniture in there, there is a lot of information on the walls which showed how it used to be. We loved it and thought it was well worth a visit.

Worth a look
12/2019
3 euros gains entry to this unusual building. It has not reached its full potential as a tourist spot but is an unusual and quirky piece of architecture located in an area with outstanding views. Upstairs there are exhibitions and the social history exhibits of Fuerteventura are interesting.
Certainly worth a stop.

Museum without artifacts

A lot of empty rooms. Not too many information about this place. The building is renovated but empty. The single regular ticket cost 3€.

Interesting piece of local history
11/2019 • Pariskunnat
Visited La Oliva on a day that it was too windy for the beach.
The Casa is very interesting and provides an excellent set of information on the history of the islands.
Don’t expect it to be fitted out with the original furniture like a National Trust property.
Very good value at €3 per person entrance fee.

Nice building

It is an old colonels house. The house has no furniture left but still the building is quite nice. Also la oliva is a nice small village to visit.

A great example of Spanish Colonial Architecture
4/2019 • Perhe
Best seen with a tourist guide who can explain all the details of the house, even as a private visitor, it's probably the finest example of Spanish Colonial architecture in the Canary Islands. The ground floor usually houses art exhibitions and the upstairs the history of the house. The staircase is built with stone from the nearby Tindaya mountain.
