Korlai fort and light house- Gems by the sea
1/2021 • Perhe
Korlai town is located about 25km south of Alibag. As you pass through the town towards the hill you are greeted with amazing views of the Arabian Sea, the beach, the Light house and the hill atop which lies the Korlai fort.
The path leading to the light house is cemented but narrow, it’s better to park the car at the beginning and walk up. When we went, the light house was not open to public. The trek to the fort begins at the light house. It’s an uphill path and requires some climbing. The trek is fairly easy and the views from the top are amazing. We did this with a 7 and a 10yr old.The fort although in ruins, still has a lot of charm. Take your time to soak in the views, explore the fort which includes bastions, a remnant of a church, canons, etc. The fort was built by the Portuguese and was later under the Marathas.
I would give the whole thing at least 2-3 hours to enjoy the beauty of this place.

Camping on Beach
3/2019
It was an adventure trip for us as its almost the end of our college days, The night walks on the beach are pleasant, we also cooked food by ourselves with the help of some villagers, but early mornings weren't so pleasant as the beach was crowded by fisherman going for fishing and few collecting sea shells, and few people were excreting in the sea too which was an unpleasant thing to notice, also we unfortunately missed the sunset which sets into the sea

Unique combination of Fort by the Sea and Lighthouse, Do Not Miss This.
8/2019
This was a second visit, first being 10 years back. As a pleasant surprise, the 2km single lane kuccha road is now converted to concrete road. Still we parked about a Km back and walked the rest of the road.

The light house offers a great view if you can climb the narrow stairs to the top [there is a viewing balcony where you can have a 360 degree view of the western ghats].

There is also a nice and easy trek with stairs, to climb to the top of the Korlai fort. You can still walk across the expanse of the fort once on top, also pray the small Shiv ji temple and have your snaps with the canons from Maratha time.

This is something you cannot miss if you have driven till Alibaug

Wow views from Korlai fort !
3/2019 • Perhe
Korlai fort is present before the Kashid beach (12 kms) over a hillock when travelling from Alibaug (17 kms from Nagaon beach). The fort is a quite an elevation and gives a spell bounding view of the Arabian sea in almost 360 degree view. The fort had been built by Portuguese for a great sight of Arabian sea to have control in the area. The very narrow cement road on the hillock by the beach was guided by google maps. At a time, only one vehicle can go on this road as the road is very narrow. There is Korlai lighthouse and one needs to enter the lighthouse area to gain access to the fort. The parking area for few cars is available at Rs.20 and same as entrance ticket for the Korlai lighthouse.

There are steps leading to Korlai fort, however, they are ruined and quite steep for elders to climb. My parents staying back while we climbed up. As we climbed up the steep path, the elevation achieved was making the view beautiful ... more and more with every few steps! The fortification is around 15-20 feet in height and it is important you get to a maximum height within the fort to get the view of grandeur! The fort has a complete 360 degree view of Arabian sea and a treat to watch. With sun scorching so hard, we found it difficult to spend more time; 20 minutes was fair!

Mesmerizing three side sea view
12/2018 • Pariskunnat
You can stay in Alibag and drive to this place for 40 minutes. The road is through greenery via Revdanda. The fort is sea locked from 3 sides. There is a good observatory and light house at a high point so the view is amazing. The place is clean and well maintained. There are remains of fortification and church since it was with portugese empire. Must visit for history lovers.

A rugged yet pleasant walk to the Lighthouse and the Fort.
11/2018 • Perhe
Though it was high noon, the walk of nearly two kms was a scenic one along the shoreline which kept falling away as we progressed towards the Lighthouse and the Fort. Built by the Portuguese, this fort still contains quite a few cannons, two of which are placed in the lighthouse precinct. The view atop the lighthouse is quite breathtaking. Good for the adventurous!
