The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.

It is a bit of a tourists trap or at least it is hyped a bit over what you get. Maybe it is running on old merits from the old show with a similar name ( I never saw that).
As far as drinking/bar shows go I think it qualifies as average. Great thing to do with friends if you are going out clubbing or drinking after.

There is a bit too much pause for buying merg. and drinks. You need to expect 4 hours from the time they give you. And there is about 1,5h show in that.

Don’t expect too much and you won’t be disappointed.

Read this review first https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/ShowUserReviews-g14133667-d4776370-r930430083-Robot_Restaurant-Kabukicho_Shinjuku_Tokyo_Tokyo_Prefecture_Kanto.html

It used to be the robot restaurant which was around the corner but that closed after covid. The other review above is right, and we read it too late (at the restaurant actually). They do this in the Gira Girls Nightclub- "Samurai Experience " by day, "nightclub" later. Interesting building if you do end up going, but that is it. I would rather sit through one of my children's old ballet concerts again than this! For $100 a ticket approx, go somewhere else. we saw people walking out after the first couple of acts.
The only positive - the drinks are not too expensive - but we had already been hit with the ticket price.
HINT - if you do have to get dragged along, eat lunch first and get the two drinks instead of the food option. You are going to need some self medication to get through it.

What a unique experience ! Truely captured the creativity and passion in Japan. From the giant robot seats out the front of the show to the end, it was all just incredible and something I will never forget. Loved the drink service during also !

This is a classical tourist trap. Dont go to this show. There are no japanese people. It is amateuristic, expensive, the food sucks and after 10 mins of performance you wait 20 min where they are trying to sell you tshirts and drinks. Extremely disappointing after all the 'reviews' I read online.

I visited robot restaurant in 2017 as recommended by a friend. I have no idea what I saw but I loved every minute of it something you have to do once and probably only once.

Very impressive and fun I must say. I came here a few times before and I liked all the activities and robots presented at the restaurant. I also had a school excursion last year taking place in this very restaurant which surprised me so much because of my memories here. The excursion visit was different to the normal visits though.

It started off as normal, but after 25 minutes suddenly the entire robot show and all the lights deactivated to my surprise. The staff and my teachers checked to see what was wrong with the place but they saw a message saying that the restaurant won't be fixed by the next few hours which meant we are all locked inside the place until the power is back on. We were very scared of what would happen next and the staff had another idea that would replace watching robot shows.

The staff guided all of us to a special kids room that had never been used for years. We saw electronic costumes that can be worn by kids of our age and a huge area for the audience to sit at to watch children put on a robot show. They told the teachers to leave the kids area and told us students to stay to help fix the problem. They told us that the small robot costumes in this area are unique and are the only way to provide spare power to the restaurant. They told us that we had to sit in a huge row of chairs assigned to us and that when activated, they will use their seat belts to strap us in our individual chairs, scan our body, cover our body in metal, turn us into the robots from the show in our size and then switch us on. We all were told to sit in the chairs and get ready. I didn't want to become a robot at first but the staff peer pressured me into becoming one so much, I gave in and got ready. When we became the robots, we had different movement skills, different voices, and a battery life. We had to ensure to complete the mission quickly before it is too late and we all get shut down due to lack of battery. We went in the energy center and managed to repair all the power that was gone from the restaurant. During that time though, all our battery lives were completely empty, rendering us not being able to get out of the suits. We were recharged and then released out of the suits. The staff thanked us for the help and then told us that we can return to school.

Overall, the excursion, or should I say heroine journey was fun and adventurous. I don't like how we almost died though.
