Good but Expected more

Great concept but needs to be executed better. We brought a Groupon so it was value for money. The 5 courses were obviously small but we were content and well fed at the end, we enjoyed the food. There was a good atmosphere too. We really expected more in terms of a 'gold rush dining experience' as the prize was just a watered down shot...Also staff shouldn't be drinking - one waitress spilt drink on me and later dropped a dirty knife on me. Another server fell into my chair - even the singer was clearly a bit drunk. Just a bit clumsy and not professional as I saw them taking shots at the bar. Chairs gave me backache and mine was wobbling all night due to a cobbled floor that had missing cobbles so mine had a hole. Overall there could be more to liven up the experience, food was good and servers should be sober...

Sadly no gold coins but some yummy snacks
8/2016 • Pariskunnat
Hilarious host has everyone searching their food for gold coins in order to get a free shot. Don't be too worried if you don't find any as he gave out many without reason too.

The dishes were small but tasty and creatively presented. Enough for me but if you were hoping for a large dinner you may be disappointed. There were spare ribs going.

Tables are communal although would be better if they took more advantage of the theme and included some games or activities to get everyone involved.

Considering the price it was an enjoyable evening and the service was very friendly.

Good fun

The staff is really friendly and the venue has a good atmosphere. If you play the part you will have way more fun. Just dress up and enjoy enjoy the live music. The food is good. And the ribs are amazing. A great choice if you want to have fun with some friends.

Wonderful concept and attention to detail!

Django Bango as a concept is right up my street. From the aesthetic to the menu and drinks choices, the music and the immersion I was totally sold!

From muffnuts to deep fried crocodile the food just kept on a coming and it was plentiful. The cocktails definitely dulled the pain of atrocious weather and the musical entertainment Tommy Hare was flawless.

All in all, if you've not tried the Django Bango experience you're missing a real treat and a darn tootin' great hoedown!

Great idea
4/2016 • Pariskunnat
The idea is amazing, and the western village seemed fun upon arrival, but lack of vide for first 1 1/2 hours before band, running out of food after they have sold it to you and the same at the bar seemed a little under prepared. Great that we loved pints of beer as all else was sold out. Spittoon/ catapult were fun so a few more and perhaps a bucking bronco would be a great add on. Good band but not country or line dancing. Had a good night as we planned too since we tracked far from home.

Whoa There Cowboy- Don't Expect to be Blown Away.

As a concept, Django Bango is tendered as an immersive Wild West themed pop-up village. Located only a few minutes from Whitechapel underground station, a certain amount of dependence on Google Maps is required to pinpoint the venue. Lack of visible signage added to our cautious approach, which eventually lead us into the vast concrete confines of a derelict building. We spotted lit-up arcade machines lined up against the far wall, a cluster of portable loos and then a makeshift reception area. Some of the space was being used for laser tag and sport, causing further disorientation. However, a welcoming face in a Django Bango t-shirt (and novelty cowboy hat, naturally) confirmed that we had found the right place.

It was worth getting there ahead of the typical Friday night crowd because we were granted with free-range to explore. While an interesting concept with a lot of potential, the experience was nowhere as immersive as I expected and much of the village looked like a rickety, cheap set from an amateur stage production. The cocktails at the bar were expensive and modestly poured and there was a lack of seating space. Food was on offer, but nothing approaching the standard of street food proffered at Dalston Yard or Hawker House for instance, which is now the pop-up culinary baseline. Given the hefty admission price of £12.50 on the door, I expected more engagement with actors, a more lively bar and unbridled access to the shooting alley and slingshot game- they were about £1 a go, however, and didn’t seem too feasible.

A band was setting up to play a 9:45pm set, but we opted to head off as the crowds were thickening and more raucous Friday night boozing was getting into full force. Things may have picked up with live music, but we were satisfied that we had seen much of what Django Bango had to offer.

Although Django Bango officially closed its saloon doors on Saturday, I have no doubt that it will be resurrected in another manifestation over the summer or next year. At least we have some insight into what to expect from any future forays from the event company.

Tumbleweed nothingness more tumbleweed

Excited at the idea of a western pop-up, "finally somewhere in London to kick my Stetsons"... And then the black clouds roll over. This was possibly the best idea turned to a chunky chunder broth by completely half assed visions and efforts, I would have expected more of a primary school children's western play, in Antarctica. No signage at all, and flocks of people sheep wandering through a deserted building full of porta-potties looking for a bucket called a spittoon. Never been so embarrassed or ashamed to have supported or been associated in any way with a pop-up event, that took a great idea, pooped on it, rubbed it in autumn leaves, rolled it in sand and wrapped it in cardboard. Absolute rubbish! Complete waste of money, hardly worth my words.

Utter rubbish

If I could give this a lower score I would! Absolute waste of money. What a shame that such a great idea was executed in such a half hearted amateur way! I am gutted I parted with money for this. We left after 20 mins as just couldn't even bare to stay any longer. I'm really hoping someone with some imagination and flare takes the idea and makes this the awesome event it could have been.

Loved the idea, disappointed by the execution

The idea of a pop up western town and the pictures on the website had me looking forward to experiencing it. The entrance is at the back of a community centre, past the games machines and five a side pitches, which funnily enough raised my expectations.
The night was okay, there were a few actors in character, dotted around (3) who did their best to get the night going, but on the night I went the crowd was not that responsive.
Great idea and I hope that they manage to develop it further and possibly creat more characters to give it more atmosphere. I hope it is a success but by around 10:30 made my excuses and left.
