Lack of customer care

I had recently visited the crédit mutuel of Paris and was shocked by the attitude employees displayed towards their customers. I asked a young man to give me my money and he said no. I have never felt more betrayed in my life. I hope he will learn from his mistake and just gimme my monaaaayy.... Thanks

Intriguing courtyard

Wandered in during the Parisian Heritage days festival. Lovely courtyard with an auction house and art gallery. There is also a cafe open only during the summer months. There is an old tower at the end of the smaller courtyard. Definitely an imposing Parisian Hotel Particuleur.

A secret around every corner...

I live in Paris, but love to wander around. Today, I walked into the courtyard of the Credit - known to older French folks as "going to visit my Auntie", a reference to the practice of "lending" some valuables to the City in exchange for some spending money. I saw a few women carrying fur coats inside, and more than a few who probably had a few necklaces, etc stashed in their handbags. They were headed towards the sign marked: "Pret sur Gage" - basically, a timed loan for valuables. This is where you should go, too...

At the end of this little courtyard, you will find an impressive tower, the base of which is formed from the remains of the original wall that was built by King Philippe-Auguste. Bits and pieces of this wall - that surrounded Paris - can be found in numerous unexpected places throughout the City, and it's always a delight to stumble upon this bit of history. But there's more...

Turn right, and tucked away in the very small corner there, you will find both the remains of a doorway dating from the 1500's, as well as an original column that was unearthed then re-positioned here. It is lovely to see the workmanship, but even more lovely to think that the City of Paris thought it was important to preserve this bit of history. I walked away thinking that it would make more sense to move this bit of history out somewhere where it could be better appreciated - but then, this is Paris...
