About
A center of interpretation dedicated to explaining the history of the Jewish quarter of Seville, its history and cultural achievements. Enjoy ours walking tours "Begins with a visit to the exhibition of the Center of approximately 40 minute in which the goal is to come to a historic understanding of the plight of the Jews in Seville (massacre of 1391, inquisition, expulsion, etc.) Through primary source documents from the inquisition, two statutes of the "blood cleansing," a painting by Joaquin Turina and Areal about the expulsion of the Jews of Seville, a masterpiece and gem of the exhibition. Then, for an hour and 20 minutes, there will be a walk around the most interesting points of the biggest neighborhood of Jewry in all of Spain (remnants of walls, synagogues, the cemetery, Verde street, which is where the massacre of 1391 occurred, ancient ritual baths of Mikue, etc.)"

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Centro de Interpretación Judería de Sevilla is seemingly always open both on National, Christian and Jewish Holidays including Saturdays as it is not run by any religious organization nor the existing Jewish Community.
It is a small but very very interesting museum showing the long and important history, roles, dress, gastronomy and culture that Jews of the Spain have given to the Iberian Peninsula.
It also focuses on the “Sephardic Diaspora”, and how it has maintained its unique Spanish culture and memory in many other countries ranging from North Africa, the Ottoman Empire, the Balkans, England, Holland and as far flung as Bahamas & Brazil.
Did you know that there are still Ladino (Judeo-Spanish) speaking communities in the world? In Istanbul, there were several Ladino Newspapers in circulation until relatively recently.
I highly suggest taking the Walking tour of Seville to see the physical remnants and reminders that may otherwise be blind to the untrained eye. Visit the Building that is attributed to anti-Semitic folklore, see architecture that influenced the inquisition and even a Jewish tomb excavation that is horrifically placed inside a underground parking lot.

Centro de Interpretacion Juderia de Sevilla is a place where you can travel through time and experience something different. There is a number of exhibits and there is plenty of information to transport the visitor back into time as far as the Middle Ages and then read about and hear the stories of the Jewish people of Seville. It's an amazing collection of stories.

The website did not inform us that the museum was closed. We went there and found a sign on the door. Try calling (we didn't, because we didn't expect it to be closed). Maybe you'll manage to find out if it is open. Disappointing, of course.

I booked a walking tour with the Jewish Centre in Seville as a Christmas present for my husband (what do you give the man who has everything !). We have always sought out Jewish quarters when we travel though not being Jewish ourselves. We find the history of the Jews one that is increasingly hard to unravel. So off we went on a beautifully sunny morning in Seville with a simply wonderful guide. Over 2 hours he explained, theorised and gave anecdotes on not only the Jewish community in Seville but almost worldwide across the centuries (with excellent use of his tablet to illustrate things that sadly no longer exist). I doubt a professor in the subject could have been more comprehensive. Plus he was delightful and entertaining with excellent English. To be truthful there was little evidence left of the community in Seville - but that was part of the point. When you get to the underground car park you will understand.................

Very good walking tour of Jewish Seville. Brilliantly told by Rebecca, a very knowledgable historian with a particular interest in the jewish history in Seville. The walk lasted about 2 1/2 hours and was at a very easy pace with plenty of stops for information.

We loved our visit to Centro de interpretacion Juderia de Sevilla. Our conversation with Candy was very helpful in setting context for our exploration in the Museum. We have a much better understanding now of the historical role of Jews in the the region and the impact of the Inquisition on Jews, Muslims and the region as a whole.

The museum has interesting information. Yet, 6.50 Eur for two rooms with very few exhibits is rather pricy.

This tour was a highlight of our time in Seville.

Our guide was lovely and the tour was fascinating. He did a great job citing historical and archaeological research and making it accessible. It was clear he was not only knowledgeable, but passionate about the subject. We’ve done a lot of these kinds of tours in various places. This one really stood out because of the guide.

The tour was a great way to experience the neighborhood. It was a small group and he was also able to tailor it to our questions, etc. Truly can’t recommend this enough for anyone interested in history, architecture or culture!

(Our guide also recommended other neighborhoods and cites to visit, so I recommend doing this earlier in your trip!)

The collection was interesting, but giving the entry fee was 6,50 EUR I expected more than just one room with texts.

The center offers a nice insight of the Jewish history of Seville, very interesting to understand the importance and impact of this community and to get a broad picture of Seville´s history. I do recommend it!
