The beach for the introverts
8/2019
In August a little red ferry went to and fro every 15 min, from Santander, just below the Botin Centre. Puntal is a sandy peninsula the reminded me of Denmark. It’s ideal for those who love to walk long distances on nice, clean, sandy beaches.
Here you can lie without having people all around you.
There were coast guards keeping an eye on safety.
If you want lots of restaurants don’t come to Puntal. It has only one.
This is the place for those who want to have peace and quiet. Personally, I loved it.

Great walk with firm sand. Feel like you are walking to Santander...only a short distance across the bay

Extra dimension
5/2019 • Pariskunnat
Rather than immediately leave the port once we arrived, we opted to stay a night in Santander and it was a good decision. This beach is lovely and just gives the town and added dimension.

It is quite windy but it was being used for a huge game of football when we were there as it is flat and even. There is plenty to do around it with walks, restaurants and bars and so on and we would consider staying there the next time we are in town.

Lovely Beach

This is a great beach to walk along and enjoy the sunshine, fantastic for a Saturday in December.

As we walked we saw groups of people enjoying the beach, playing football or bat and ball!

Great for a tranquill beach day

Take a ferry from Santander small port and spend the day on a gorgeous, semi deserted beach. You will get awesome views of Santander bay and ports. It can be a bit windy and you can easily burn if you aren't carefull. Worth to bring your own picnic.

Great long beach for a nice walk, surfing and sunset
8/2018 • Pariskunnat
We got the tip from a local. Somo and the Playa de El Punta is great for a walk along the beach. From one end to other you can walk around 6km. We took a surfing lesson at The Wave Surf School and had an instructor only for the two of us. It was great.

City Sailboats
8/2017 • Kaverit
Few cities in the world allow you to have it all in the summer. However, Playa de El Puntal in Santander gets you pretty close. With sweeping views of the city and the sea and surrounded by tiny sail boats this gem of a beach is well worth a day of your travel itinerary.

If, you're not one of the many lucky souls in who the city their own water vessel, then you can jump on the public ferry for a scenic ride across the Bahia for the low low price of 4,10€. The terminal stop is pretty understated and is located off the main water front promenade; Jardines de Pereda.

Once on the island, the water is super calm and clear, and you can often spot fish swimming between you and anchored boats. I'd suggest you head to the right of the island's bustling restaurant; Chiringuito El Puntal Tricio. To the right, the dunes are a bit more isolated, but you'll still be within ear shot of them calling your table number, lol.

Prepare for the best tan ever.
