Neighbourhood: Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.

I commissioned Gabriele to paint me. It is exquisite! He is a master of the human body. Also, he is a complete gentlemen. I will relish the painting for the rest of my life! The painting is so stunning and I just really am so grateful and thankful for the experience! Gabriele is extremely talented, and is one of the last true artisans in Florence for paintings.

Il dipinto è così bello e speciale!

We stopped by to browse around and noted some beautiful art works and sculptures in this studio we really liked everything on display.
Had noticed a long box about the size of a coffin in the corner. We also noticed no one else in the studio. Then we noticed a noise and the lid of the box popped open and out stepped the artist!!
This must have been an entry and clearly exit point for going downstairs!

For anyone who is an artist, truly a must... a refreshing look at talent. I would highly suggest also for anyone looking for a commissioned painting in figure painting.

I used to go here everytime I visited during 1989-93 (four times) and could afford one of his lithographs that had a wonderfully Florentine flavor and one of his incredible masks (meant for show, not to be worn).

In four subsequent visits to Firenze since '93, I have always stayed on the same street as his shop, and therefore walked by daily-- wonderful window shopping, but I wish he hadn't gone so commercial.

Starting in '91 he stopped making art that was affordable for me...moving into his commissioned oils. When I asked him why the change? He was very candid, "I need to make money". He could not make enough on the lithographs and such. Understandable but sad.

I love and honor the all the work that I purchased and his artistry at that time. His present work does not speak to me though it is very good. It is wonderful that he is on the same street as I first visited in Summer 1988, 29 years ago.

I have visited this shop since 1993, a trip to Florence would not be complete without meeting Gabrielle Mossa - wonderful painter in the Rosso Fiorentino style. He ships to the US and could not be easy to talk to about the work. Special commissions or portraits can be done if you are in Florence for just a few days!
