Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went here on a whim looking for some ruins on a drive and found this gem. The steps to the government building were quite a sight. A lot to take in around and a few good maps dotted about the place to explain what’s around you. Cost €3 to get in and be aware it closes at 1500/1530hrs at the end on the day.

This archeological site was certainly our very best visit
Very far from Disney style Cnossos, you discover an authentic archeologoical site with an amazing location offering icredible views to Agios Nikolaos and Mirabello.
Best to arrive before 10am so you can enjoy the site just for yourself.

We went here a few weeks ago. It was truly the best site I have visited in Crete for archaeology I went to Knossos and Phaestos several times but this is truly spectacular. The views are amazing and how the people built the city up in a mountain is totally awe-inspiring. I found the place to have a very special atmosphere. It was the highlight of our trip. You need good shoes and the walk up is a steep 100 m or so.

Lovely place, very interesting to see how people lived. Try to go early in the morning cause the only shade there are the olive trees. Very worth doing.

10.09.2020 So this place has excited us the most of all the monuments we saw on Crete, the most. Amazing place with a soul. You kind of feel like you are in Peru. I recommend to anyone looking for mystic monuments. More youtube travel video PSIS-visit. Iva + Petr CZ Prague

A fascinating place with a wide area to explore, and extraordinary views. We had the place to ourself and felt uniquely connected to the past. Wear sturdy shoes! Entrance is 3 Euros as of summer 2020.

We were not expecting that there was much to see at Kato, but there has been quite a bit of excavation, leaving some interesting areas to explore. Some walls are intact, meaning that visitors can see where shops and houses, etc. would have been.
Now costs €3 (2020)

Very cheap €2 each, off the beaten track but worth a visit if near Kritsa or the area.
On the hillside, very quiet, need decent footwear.
Great views.

Other reviewers have commented on what the site is about, I just wanted to highlight a few things for other visitors. Sturdy footwear is essential, the paths are not flat! Loose stones, small and large can make walking tricky, so no wheelchair access You need good balance to clamber up the rocky places. The wind was up when we went, dust blowing about, but cooler! No guidebook, some boards around the site.
How people ever made a home on this mountain I will never know, creating their homes around the massive rocks.

Truly awesome archeological site high in the hills. Its quiet and unspoilt. Entrance just 2 euro. But wear good footwear and not good for infirm or very elderly as its steep and unsteady underfoot. But if you can do it you will find yourself in an amazing city where you can climb the ruins and admire the amazing views. When we were there there were 4 eagles circling the site. Just truly special
