Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really interesting to visit the home of the only Marshall of Finland. Lots of his personal items in display but his life was even more interesting. Worth stopping by

This museum has very limited opening hours.
Visited Helsingfors last year, but did not stay for a weekend, so no chance to see this museum.
This year my visit included a weekend, so at last I would be able to pay this museum a visit. I think the history about Mannerheim is very interesting!
So I learned that the weekend I was to visit was the Midsummer weekend. Many places closed. Checked the webpage for this museum several times before my visit, and could not find any information about closing during Midsummer.
And I was happy! At last I would be able to see this house, and learn more about Gustaf Mannerheim.
And so disappointed when I arrived on Saturday 22.of June with a note on the door: Closed Midsummer weekend. This is just not possible!!
Your museum closed for almost 14 days! You do not really want visitors, do you?
And the information on your webpage, when did you update it regarding midsummer? Not a few weeks before midsummer when I did my research.
You have to do better, because Mannerheim deserves a much better run museum than this.
Visited Ekudden, the Kekkonen museum. Open Midsummer weekend, and five days a week. They surely know how to run a museum.

This is an old building which describes Finland's history related to Russia. One needs to have a guide who speaks English. When we went it was closed and therefore please check the timings before the visit.

We walked there only to be told there were no English speaking guides and they wouldn't let us walk around with a guidebook on our own.

Although this is a very interesting museum , there are a number of access problems that must be taken into account . It is only open at the end of the week, and hours are limited . There are no lifts and there are stairs . All of this is made clear on their website . HOWEVER, what is not made clear is that it is only possible to see this museum by a guided tour . That means you have stand on your feet while the guide waxes lyrical about Mannerheim and his pivotal role in Finland’s history . To be truthful, I felt a bit sorry for the guide for the English language speaking tours , she clearly is trying to give value for money , and it is very interesting . It also means that if you’re a person who has difficulty / painful standing , you don’t get to see so much , because you have to move at the pace of the guide’s allocated time . This museum would benefit from having a set of laminated cards in each room , in various languages , numbering the objects in the room , so that people could also read them for themselves . There is also a no photography policy . Although there is no museum shop , they do have a few books for sale, but because the entry lobby / cloakroom / ticket desk is so small, it gets very crowdy and it’s not easy to get a look at what’s on offer . It might be better to have a pre-booking, restricted entry system at specific times, to limit numbers and make for a better experience . In terms of access , if you have difficulty walking , be careful which route you take from the tram . The stop AFTER the 2 tram Olympiaterminalin is the best, shortest distance . At this point the 2 tram changes its number and becomes the 3 tram . This is a sloping 350m sloping walk to the museum . If you just go via the 2 tram, it is a 650m walk and involves quite a lot of steps.

The white wooden house from 1874 where C.G.Mannerheim lived for a long period from 1924 until his death in 1951 looks quite plain compared to other buildings in the most exclusive location in Helsinki. The Finnish War Marshall and most famous person of the past hundred years of our history started his long military career as an officer in the Russian Czars army. The museum is only open for guided tours from Friday to Sunday 11-16 available in several languages, no photographs can be taken. Already the entrance lobby is most amazing with antlers of shot prey hanging around the walls.

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon just on time for the English guided tour. It was very imformative and our guide was excellent.
Here you will learn briefly on the rich history of Finland in connection with Sweden and Russia. Interesting historical and art pieces throughout the house. If you are pro animal rights, you might get a little uncomfortable with animal heads in the house. Otherwise, come, learn and appreciate the rich history behind the man of the house.

Drove by and my wife noticed the billboard saying: Mannerheim Museum open. In we went and so glad we did. The guided tour began 15 minutes later and the guide was so good. She told about the marchall Mannerheim and his lifestory so good. One hour tour lasted an hour and fifteen minutes and time just flew. We paid attension to every word our guide told us. Looked like the whole group of people was exited. There were 15 of us. I do recommend this.

I find this little home museum of Mr Mannerheim one of the best places to visit in Helsinki. It give you a great insight to Finnish independence and the life of Mr M. The guides are specialists and it is highly interesting to listen to their stories.

Is there a schedule of tours in particular languages? I am trying to understand the timing of the English language tour so that we can make the most of our time in Helsinki.

The groups are fairly small, and they are flexible - they adjust the languages to fit the people turning up.
