Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The best for real ale with a wonderful ambiance and the landlord is great to talk to, sharing detail of the ale background and other interesting topics. Decor is amazing and a must see for any real ale lovers- a proper pub.

Friendly and relaxed atmosphere with a great selection of beers available. Staff very friendly and with very pleasant, comfortable surroundings. Great town centre pub for fans of good beer and good times. Probably not one for your Foster’s / Carling drinkers, though there were some pilsners available, as well as ciders, gins and other choices. Really enjoyed my visit and hope to come again.

Great micro pub with an amazing ever changing selection of ales. The barman who is serving on a Saturday lunchtime at the moment is super friendly and knowledgeable we even let him choose our 3/1/3rds for us and he picked some lovely ales. We have visited many times and is our go to pub in Whitley bay.

Great pub with a good choice of beers. Found the staff and locals to be very friendly and the beer was top quality. We called in 3 consecutive days during our stay in Whitley Bay and the beers changed frequently. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful when we asked about the various drinks on keg and cask.

Visited with my wife on a busy Friday afternoon over Christmas, dogs were everywhere. I don't understand taking dogs to a pub. Drinks were ok, but won't be back. We want to go to a pub and relax, not step over dogs

We called in because we thought we had seen draught cider on the shelf and wanted to try this micro pub. On arrival we were offered flavoured ciders, which are just an abomination! There was one 'proper' cider, but it tasted of nothing - a cup of tap water would have been more flavoursome. That's really disappointing.

So we left the undrinkable cider and departed.

There's a selection of ales, but no proper draught cider. Its very small, so don't bring a big crowd!

George Orwell wrote about “The Moon Under Water”, an imaginary pub with all the attributes that made the ideal pub. Orwell would be delighted with The Dog and Rabbit, very friendly, great beer, locals who know their onions, no music, television or wi fi. A true gem.

If you know anything about craft beer this is a must. Micropub with some excellent selections including their own (which is brewed in the back of the pub and smells great). Lovely staff and cask and keg pints are absolutely brilliant..

Excellent find for Craft Ale Nerds.
The staff were really friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the ale’s were well kept and there was a great selection.
