Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If You have a hot day to spend in Chioggia, don't miss....the view is spectacular while approaching, and You can admire two works of such masters as Tintoretto and Carpaccio. There's no crowed, queuing up, no expensive tickets.

We visited this church when we were in Chioggia for a vacation. It is not as large and ornate as some other Catholic churches, but it has interesting paintings and a very interesting crucifix.

The Church of "San Domenico" is located on a small island on the north-east side of Chioggia, and can be reached via a bridge. The church is average, although an old guy (only speaking italian) explained me the legend of the cross, which seems to come from a sunken ship about 1000 km to the south, floating all the way to Chioggia. Ok, it's a legend. There are also some paintings worth seeing.
For 2 euro one can light up the church for about 15 minutes.

I came here in January 2014 with some friends.
I decided to give this church 5 stars mostly because of its one of a kind custodian. He is very prepared and quite funny in the remarks he makes. He showed us the last painting by Carpaccio (40 groups of people a day come to see it we were told :D) and the largest Crucifix in the world (as he said). We really caught up in his descriptions and really enjoyed the visit.
The church itself may not be the best artistically or architecturally but it is definitely worth the visit.

Large structure dating from the 13th century.
On its own island in the north-east of the town, and worth the walk.
Austere interior with some good paintings, one of them attributed to Tintoretto.
Very spiritual atmosphere. Not many visitors when I was there last spring.
