Es un clasico museo catedralicio, con un par de obras magnificas y nada mas impactante. Si visita la Catedral y tiene tiempo, bien puede dedicarle un tiempo corto.

All'interno di Palazzo Rospigliosi,in piazza del Duomo,si trovano due musei:il Museo Rospigliosi e il Museo Diocesano, Nel primo ci sono alcune sale riccamente decorate,soffitti a cassettoni del sei-settecento,il tutto uno spaccato del gusto e delle preferenze artistiche del periodo. Famosa la camera da letto dove avrebbe dormito il Papa nel suo soggiorno pistoiese.
Il secondo museo espone ogni genere di arredi e paramenti sacri,in un tripudio di ori e gemme.

Spettacolare per la varietà degli oggetti in esso contenuti. Si vede la storia del palazzo fin dalle sue fondamenta: resti romani, qualcosa di etrusco, ceramica di periodo bizantino, maioliche medievali, avori, oreficeria di gran livello del 300-400, un arazzo millefiori di 8x2,5 m., pittura dal 300 all'800. Si finisce con Bilivert, Fidani Furini della ex collezione Gordigiani e con la stanza completamente affrescata dal giovanissimo Boldini.

Lungo il percorso archeologico che si svolge all'interno del Palazzo dei Vescovi sono degni di nota i cippi funerari etruschi del risalenti ai secoli VI° e V° a.C. Nello medesimo edificio si trovano anche gli affreschi trecenteschi della Cappella di S. Niccolò accanto ed opere molto più recenti come la Pomona di Marino Marini. La raccolta del museo della cattedrale presenta anche ottimi esempi di opere di oreficeria medievali e rinascimentali tra le quali, di straordinaria importanza, la Croce detta di Sant'Atto opera di manifattura tedesca risalente all'anno 1280, il Calice detto di Sant'Atto opera di Andrea e Tallino di Ognibene risalente all'anno 1286, il reliquiario di San Zeno opera di Enrico Belandini risalente all'anno 1369, il reliquiario della Vergine opera del maestro fiorentino Rombolus Salvei eseguito nell'anno 1379; il reliquiario di San Jacopo opera di Lorenzo Ghiberti eseguito nell'anno 1407 ed infine il reliquiario di Sant'Eulalia opera di Maestro Gualandi risalente all'anno 1444.

Abbiamo visitato soltanto l'esposizione tattile che consente ai non vedenti di apprezzare i modellini di alcuni edifici storici pistoiesi. Tali modellini sono molto ben fatti e smontabili. Ciò consente di rendersi conto anche degli interni. Davvero squisita la custode che ci ha fatto da guida ed ci ha illustrato con passione le particolarità dei singoli monumenti. complimenti per la sensibilità ed il valore sociale di questa mostra.
