Larger than I was expecting
4/2021
Wasn’t expecting too much, but it is very imposing, and right in the Centre of the city. All Covid precautions in place. Relatively quiet, and architecturally impressive. Contactless donations........

An impressive cathedral - well worth a visit
12/2020
Currently open only for 5 hours a day, the cathedral is a wonderful example of Gothic Revival architecture. Perhaps the best view from a distance is from the train from Devon. Staff on hand to advise and help, and the cafe is open for a while at lunchtimes.

Monumental cathedral in the centre of Truro
10/2020 • Kaverit
Truro Cathedral is a monumental structure which dominates the city. The cathedral was built between 1880 and 1910 by John Loughborough Pearson to a Gothic Revival design. It is one of three cathedrals in United Kingdom to have three spires. When we visited in October 2020 the cathedral was allowing visitors so we had the chance to explore inside. At the main entrance Covid measures were explained by volunteers who were polite and informative. The interior was stunning with some very intricate works including the reredos which was carved by Nathaniel Hitch and designed by John Loughborough Pearson. Truro Cathedral is one of the main highlights of the city and is worth exploring.

Quick but interesting trip
10/2020
Amazing architecture and stunning building- was surprised to learn how modern it is. Free (although you can donate) and doesn't take long to visit. However, the one way system was really confusing in places

worth a visit, if time
9/2020
Interesting new mock-Gothic cathedral. Easy to park near, and free admission. Quite large and impressive. Some good windows. Note the bent nave - road layout?
Weaknesses - signage, we approached from the wrong end evidently and walked 270 degrees round, just needs an "entrance this way" sign.
Nice (volunteer?) at door welcomed us, said our dog was welcome and told us where the cafe was. Got to cafe, no sign about dogs at door, but staff said no dogs were allowed. She then rushed of, presumably to tell the door guy off. Another cafe staff apologised saying there had been an incident recently with a dog, but looked blank when we questionned the lack of sign. After half hour, we went to gift shop - handwritten note "back soon"; 20 minutes later, still closed.
Made only a small donation.

A must do in Truro
9/2020
Probably the most important, and in my view, the most impressive building in Truro.

This was on our list of things to see when we visited and thank to the walking tour that we bought in the information office we approached the cathedral from the back. This allowed us to get a view of the older church that was incorporated into the Victoria neo-gothic architecture of the new cathedral.

We returned to the cathedral later and in spite of the covid restrictions we were able to go inside, free of charge, and take ourselves around. Lovely interior, a quiet place to reflect.

As with all cathedrals there is always something you do not expect, here it was the matchstick model of the cathedral.

Well worth the time.

Short but safe visit
9/2020 • Pariskunnat
We parked very close to the cathedral, within walking district. Spaces became available in carpark quite quickly.

Covid safety measures in place. Cathedral wasn’t busy.

We saw the stunning Finn Cross. Worth going just for that. Breathtakingly beautiful.

Good shop. We purchased some books and gifts for friends.

Staff and volunteers most welcoming and friendly.

Visit lasted around 30 mins in total.

Majestic Building
9/2020 • Pariskunnat
Situated right in the city centre, with parking close by, Truro Cathedral is a majestic building. Although the architecture is gothic, the cathedral is actually Victorian and was completed in 1910. It is free to enter but there is a donations box and also a contactless donation system too. There is currently a one way route to go around and photography is allowed. Seating has been removed from the Nave but there is seating in the smaller chapels for those seeking solace and quiet. The carved rederos is amazing. There is a gift shop at the end of the tour with a variety of souvenirs. Truro Cathedral is well worth a visit.
