We perform checks on reviews.
Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The ruin is set on a golf course and once you announced yourself in the club house you are allowed to enter. Do not forget to announce yourself. The golfers are friendly but they will advise you where to go as to not be hit. I was there on one of the busiest days of the year and let me tell you, I raced to the abbey! A very nice view though and within the well maintained park it's a beauty.

Deep in the heart of Ennis we found this old church. It is a real gem. The staff were wonderful and answered a lot of our questions. Be sure to include the friary on your trip.

There are a lot of ruins on this golf course. You have to ask permission to go on, watch for and be respectful of golfers, and be mindful of the space you are in. It is so beautiful though. The day was just perfect for some gorgeous pictures.

We visited the old Franciscan Friary just hours ago and it was quiet and beautiful, unlike downtown Adare. We were the only people at the site. Tour buses and such can't get into the parking lot so it's a real gem if you are driving. We have the best family pics taken in the cloister area which is still fully intact. The golfers were friendly and understanding of us Americans walking through their game. (The walking paths wind through the fairways, not next to them.) It says "walk at your own risk" and they mean it. We did hear a lot of "four" and balls were dropping right next to us. Just park and go into the white office building for directions.

A cluster of ruins in a lovely setting of beautiful foliage and a tranquil golf course. And the best part was being there alone with just our family of four (other than the golfers on the course.) We spent quite some time touring and taking in the aura. Quite lovely...

Just a short walk from the center of town. Lots of ruins in the area from the 12th and 13th century. We enjoyed an evening walk after dinner and could feel surrounded by ancient history and people. Very interesting and calming.

On the grounds of the Adare Estate, it is accessible to the walker from town as well as those staying on the property. The many largely intact ruins of the friary and castle/fortresses give you a good idea of what life might have been in times before. They have neat cemeteries also located within the compound with thought provoking epitaphs. It is a good jaunt and good shoes a plus, there are some paved roads leading up to the grassy knolls where the ruins are. You could access all even in a WC though it could be challenging and a standby needed to push. Some of the golf course intersects with the old fortress, so heads up!. Worth the look see.
