Great natural rock formations!
8/2020 • Perhe
Mallos de Riglos are some vertical rock formations located close to Riglos, a town in Aragon Region, in the North of Spain. We saw them on road, while we went to Agüero to see Mallos de Agüero. Really Mallos de Riglos are wonderful natural rock formation and the views of them and the Gállego River are great! It is very recommendable to drive on this road (from De la Peña Dam and Murillo de Gállego towb) only to see them, so you should stop in the lookout. Great!

Visited for the Vultures
5/2018 • Pariskunnat
Travelling in our motorhome and found the Parking Area using Park4Night. Perfectly acceptable and gratefully not high season as guess the place would resemble an anthill. So did the walk around the peaks, photographing the climbers and the vultures although, to be honest, the Vulture Watching does not compare with Montfrague in Extramadura. There they are so much closer, at times really close.
Saw myriads of Griffon Vultures, possibly some Blacks but no Bearded. Difficult to say given the distances. Also some Vulture chicks perching on the ledges at entrance to nests. Also Black Kite, 2 Golden Eagles & Chough-but not Alpine.
So worth the visit-barely- but road a little narrow for our motorhome.
On to Pamplona.

Beautiful towers of rock
2/2018 • Perhe
We went here not to climb the huge towers of rock, but to do a 14 kilometer walk around the Mallos de Riglos. We slept in the car park (there are two) and started out early to do our walk. it was cold, -5C overnight, but as soon as we were in the sunshine we warmed up, we cooked our lunch at the viewpoint overlooking the mallos. Then we walked down between the huge towers back into the village of Riglos.

We had a drink the evening before our walk in the first shop on the left, as all the other bars were shut. A bottle of Estrella and a pineapple juice was 3 euros.

There were lots of climbers in the afternoon, it's well known to the climbing community.

The walk we did had amazing views to the snow clad Pyrenees to the north. There are several via ferrata in the area.

We also visited the Castillo de Loarré, nearby.

Towering rocks above
11/2017 • Pariskunnat
The Mallos were formed when eroded material washed down from the slopes of the Pyrenees and became cemented together by limestone. Over time, this mixture became compacted into a large mass of conglomerate rock.

The Clubs of Riglos
10/2016 • Pariskunnat
The Mallos are massive rock formations resembling clubs or hammers. They are easily reached from Huesca taking A132 jfor 45 kms. or from Jaca taking N240, then south of A132. The village of Riglos lies below the formations. Each rock has its own name given by the villagers. They are a paradise for hikers and rock climbers.

These massive stone towers dominate the landscape in this area
10/2016 • Pariskunnat
Climbers from worldwide come to these massive stone towers to test their skills. It is possible to view them from the small town of Riglos, which is at the base of the towers.
Very impressive watching the thrill seekers attempt their climbs

Brilliant!
6/2016 • Pariskunnat
I was expecting this to be quite remote but it is actually easily accessed by road and there is plenty of parking. The rock formations are stunning and definitely worth a visit. It is popular with climbers and walkers, we enjoyed watching the climbers scaling these magnificent rocks. The village is quite small but with a couple of bars/restaurants. I would recommend Riglos over Aguero as the rock formations are the same but the access road and parking are much better here/
