Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This beach is close to the city making this not so good beach popular for no reason.
Also too crowded.

If you are a bit lazy, and you love to stay in town, Cala Guitgia is definitely for you and your kids! A sandy beach at the bottom (rocky at the side), viewing the commercial port at the very far end of it. I love it! It embodies the soul of Lampedusa full of families and teenagers!

This is one of the beautiful beaches in Lampedusa . It is always full of tourist , but that is because there are a lot of hotels and tourist flats in this area. It is a very clean beach mostly taken care by those who rent umbrellas and deckchairs. The water is very clear considering that is in the opening and close to the port.

We went on a family holiday beginning August 2017 and stayed at Hotel Giglio in Cala Guitgia. Hotel is more like a 2 star than 3, however it is very clean and hosts are very helpful. Pricewise, like the rest of the island, it is quite expensive considering. The beach at Cala Giutgia is small and overcrowded. For the ultimate experience in crystal clear seas either book a whole day chartered boat trip which will stop you in all the best spots for swimming or rent your own boat. However, if you are suggested a boat trip by the hotel, make sure you agree on the price beforehand with the boat crew as they will fleece you if they can. ( we were told to pay €70 per couple and kid went free at the hotel, and after the day was over the boat captain asked for €100 - €40 each and €20 for child. When confronted he said that the OTHER captain was the one who made deals with the hotel and he did not have anything to do with it). Also, car rentals: fuel prices are sky high in lampedusa, and the cars for rent are either battered suzuki jeeps or old fiat puntos. No a/c and check the engine for any strange noises before you rent. Our suzuki had a problem with the fuel intake and wasted at least half of it. Eating out: nearly everywhere you will find good food, mostly based on fresh fish dishes, and it's not cheap either. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves, but after spending €2000 for five days for 2 adults and a toddler ( flights, accomodation, food), next time i will search elsewhere.
Do:
Go to baia dei conigli. It's worth the exhausting climb ( take food and water with you)
Go on a chartered boat trip ( or self drive if you can)
Go round the island. Unexpected beauty spots crop up at intervals.
Try to get to the Tabaccara beach. Amazing sea.
Go round searching for value in food. Prices aren't cheap.

This is the second best (after Rabbit island) sandy beach for kids in Lampedusa. Sand for 200 meters. A set costs 15 EUR for day and there are 400 of them in the beach. With jellyfish they put nets, so it is safe to swim even then. A lot of bars and snacks around.

Very well organised. Very clean and surprisingly quiet even though it was fully packed. You can hire a lounger and an umbrella fora few euro and keep them all day long. even when you leave yhre beach for lunch. Just leave your beach towel on the lounger and no one will touch it. Very safe.

We were located 100m from this beach so started our Lampedusa adventure from there.
Beautiful beach, it can get crowded but it didn't bother us. Two sun beds and umbrella for 15€. Guy who rent them even gave us a wi-fi pass from nearby hotel. Good choice for whole day base. We left our towels there and went exploring the island with a scooter...its a small island so you can visit all the beaches in a day. :)

If you have some days of "scirocco" wind on the island, you are forced to come at Guitgia, but like you ALL THE TOURIST ON THE ISLAND. So think about this before. Worse of all the ridiculously priced snack bar on this beach, with bad food and rude staff.

Buongiorno!
