Neighbourhood: Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

One of the best memories I have of Istanbul is attending the Whirling Dervishes ceremony through this company. We booked it through their website directly and on the Thursday (26 April) we reached their office by 6 pm. While we waited for the other guests to arrive, we spent the time with the older gentleman (master dervish?) and his translator there discussing about cultures of Turkey and India where we were from. There were only 13 of us in total and once all of them arrived, there was a small session on the background of sufism and the origins of Mevlana and the whirling dervishes. They then took us in a shuttle to the auditorium in the residential area of the suburbs where it was basically a big prayer hall where the prayers were on. We were lucky to witness an engagement announcement of a couple in that hall and the prayer ceremony after...around 8 30 the whirling dervishes ceremony started and we were memerised by the music and the whole practice. This was not a show...but a proper prayer meeting which we were very blessed to be a part of. They provided us with refreshments (ayran and baclava) and 2 photos and cds as well which we were not expecting. By the time it was over, it was around 10 pm and they dropped us back at the Sultanahmet office.

This is a once a week experience and for very very limited number of outsiders. So book ahead, go with an open mind, be respectful and take pics without flash. Its a lovely experience.

I was lucky to find this wonderful company in Istanbul. The first time by chance in 2014 as I was strolling in Sultanahmet area. This is when I first attended the 'real' whirling dervishes event at a local community centre of gathering. A place of meditation, prayer and respect. I returned again in 2018 and found the same great service by "Les Arts Turcs" and the same wonderful event. It is an insight into the world of teachings of Hazrat Molana. Highly recommended. Thanks Hakan and team for a beautiful experience. Also for your patience in answering all of the other questions and queries.

What a wonderful company. I was lucky enough to go on the Dervish Whirling event which was amazing and such a one of a kind experience.

I also went back the next day to get henna done, I brought in pictures of what I wanted and Sibel was excellent and copied it exactly onto my hands. She is such a talented artist!

I would highly recommend organising tours or events with Les Art Turcs!

Ms Dibel the henna tattoo artist was very talented! Due to my restricted mobility everything was organized perfectly. The artist came to do the henna for me at the hotrl, which was great. The staff at Les Arts Turks are amazing and very hospitable, and will go the extra mile or teo for customer's satisfaction and well bring. Absolutely amazing! The henna used is of very high quslity, organic henna with no chemicals or anything extra added. Once henna is done, need to let it dry for half an hour or so. Then scrub or clean it off, the next day it will have a very beautiful, darkef brown reddish colour. Very high quality! I will take part in this henna workshop again once I am back in Istanbul. I warmly recommend this workshop yo anyone who is, or is not, interested, definitely worth it.

Attended the Whirling Dervishes show. Service was easy and friendly. Transportation to and from monastery was provided and a light snack. This is a full religious event from start to finish including speech and chanting -- you observe from the side. Fascinating insight into a unique piece of Turksish culture. Explanation/history of the ceremony and the religious sect were okay but left some to be desired.

On my list of my bucket list trip to Istanbul, was to see whirling dervishes. So I booked eagerly with the company my hotel recommended. And I went, and I was sad because it was a theater production akin to medieval times dinners in the US.

In contrast, THIS- this ceremony was the real thing. First of all, the people at Les Arts Turcs are brilliant, and they gave an interesting and informative talk and q&a time before we left for the monastery. They then drove us out to the monastery and we had seats around the room for the services. And it was a very real service. Kind of like if your place of worship had an area on the sides for people to sit and observe... so there's the community, and they have their prayers and what I believe was likely a sermon and singing, and one young man whirled in plain clothes. And then they broke for light refreshments and chatting with each other. And then the second half of the services was the whirling dervishes in the amazing outfits and a full band playing in the balcony.

I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to have observed their service. The imam seems like a nice person too- he's very smiley and his congregation seem to adore him. The whole thing was fantastic.

Since a child I have been fascinated by this exotic and mysterious thing! Last night, I was one of a few people to sit in awe of this spiritual and moving ritual. Thanks to Les Arts for organizing this intimate tour, focusing n the culture of Istanbul rather than mass market tours. This was, for a photographer, a dream come true.

I did the Turkish tile painting class through this company on May 9, 2017. Sema and Alp were great at providing instruction and demonstration. I selected a traditional Izknik design (they had many to choose from), charcoal smudged the design onto the tile from the stencil, outlined the design, and painted it. I now have a wonderful souvenir from my trip!

I utilized the services of this firm to obtain Ottoman miniatures
with a medical/physician theme. They followed through efficiently and with great attention to my request. The entire
transaction was conducted by e-mail. I am very impressed
by the courtesy and attention to detail that was shown. This
must be reflective of how they would handle other components
dealing with a visit to this marvelous country.

Thank you very much

We contacted Bazaar Turkey tours for the Islamic Tour initially however after speaking to one of the organisers, Alp, who was absolutely amazing from start to finish, convinced me to book another service from them, airport transfers, which again was professional and prompt. The whole set up from start to finish was nothing but spectacular and will definitely be recommending them to all family and friends and will also be using again when traveling back to Turkey!
