Bison bones
7/2019
We had a great guide. He was young and full of life.

We had the choice to take the car or walk the stairs.

We chose the car. The road was steep!

The 3 red houses have bison bones.

We had nice views, even a train came by.

I like the mountains and the river.

In all three red houses we found bison bones. Some were crashed.

Our guide explained everything. The American Indians would take their horses and make lots of noises until the bisons fell down the mountain.

We saw a teepee.

Our friend showed us howw to hit a false bison. I was glad that I was not good at that!

We learned a lot here.

This is a must see!

Better than the one in Alberta

Great historical significance. Three separate buildings full of archeological discoveries and actual bones and blood in the clay. Enjoyed the guide-Amazing Amy!! Traveled from the top to site via large ATV, like a Disney ride! Learned so much! Thank you Amy!!

Not what I expected

This is an excellent historical site hiding behind the mall but very interesting and the interpreter/guide is very knowledgeable. The ride in the side by side down the very steep hill is worth the price of admission. The historical significance of bison and the indigenous people very well shown.

Sightseeing

We really enjoyed the buffalo jump. It was amazing to see how much excavating they have done at the sight. It was very interesting to see the levels and how much bone was still buried. Well worth the time to go see it!

Walking through history
7/2018 • Pariskunnat
My husband and I visited the buffalo jump going through Havre. Hugely interesting and important. Worth the $10 entrance fee, because with that you get a guided tour back into time. The only one of three archeological sites uncovered here that remains.

Wonderful piece of history!

This is such an interesting piece of history! It is definitely worth the stop and the $10 admission price! You can walk or ride a gator into the excavation site. There are 3 buildings which each house sites. The tour guide does a fabulous job of explaining everything! Throwing the atlatl at the end was my favorite part!! There is a small gift shop in the building - it is cash or check only. For tours you just show up and can get a tour. If the shop is closed, there is probably a tour in progress and you may need to wait.

Very interesting site
9/2017
Took visiting family there summer of 2017. Learned many new and interesting facts about the early native American Indians of North Central Montana. Excavated sites showed way of life's and traditions. Guides were well versed in all aspects of their presentation. The gift shop has many articles and books to enhance interest.

People lived HERE when pyramids were being built.

I did not travel to this site, I was once part of it. If you are of the aptitude of studying primitive peoples, this is a good spot. There however are better interpretive centers around. One at Ulm MT, and another called "Head Smashed In" in Canada. Both very good. This one does allow one to get right down into the dirty layers of history.

Our Tour was Cancelled
9/2017 • Pariskunnat
We had come to have to go to Bear Paw Battlefield and to the Buffalo Jump. We called two days ahead and made a reservation for our tour and the day of the tour is was raining. Just a steady drizzle, but we came prepared. Sadly they called and cancelled on us. So we basically had a day to waste had we known this we would have left town after our other tour which was over at 10:30 a.m. NOT HAPPY because we have no plans to return to this area. Too many other things in the US and world to see.
