Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As of May 2021 you now need to pay $20 for parking if you are not a resident of Ajax. Go to Pickering, Whitby, or Oshawa sites instead where you can still park for free or a REASONABLE price. The trail is nice but then paying to park extends into the surrounding neighborhoods so unless you are willing to walk over a km for free parking, don't bother. The local government has put a premium price on outdoor activities in their city.

Attention kayakers. No parking in the lot close to the kayak lunch site without a parking permit.
I got a parking time ticket last week for parking in that parking lot. I was told that a permit is needed and eligible only for Ajax residents.
I didn’t try the main parking lot by the playground though. But it was a free parking when I visited the park on May.

We walk in Rotary Park often. Each experience is unique - the lake, the sunset, the wildlife, Duffin's Creek - always changing, always beautiful. Restful.

This was our first time here since COVID so we noticed some changes. There was a security person stopping all cars coming into the parking lot to tell us there was NO BBQs and no alcohol. There were signs all over the place saying that BBQ = $125 fine.
We were there just before noon on a Sat. so it was easy to find parking, but when we were leaving around 2:30pm, it was completely packed and people had to wait for a parking spot -- so get there early to save yourself some hassle!
It was busy, but not crowded. Except the playground was crazy packed so we didn't let our kids run around there -- too many kids, no masks, etc. The other green spaces and beach areas were ok and people were spaced out. We fished the mouth of Duffins creek and caught 2 very small bass and one small perch (we threw it all back). There were other people fishing as well, but everyone was spaced out and safe.
The snack bar and washrooms were open. There were also some additional port-a-potties, but maybe not so necessary anymore after the summer. (I never saw a wait for the regular washroom.)
We saw people windsurfing and we saw an egret that was cool. Overall, a scenic place for your family to enjoy the outdoors.

Nice park by the water with daily activities like, biķe riding jogging or just relaxing by the Lake with family or friends. Very calming and peaceful atmosphere, with nice scenic views of the horizon as the sun shines off the Lake. With the occasional bird's flying by, and couples strolling along the trials.

This is a park and washroom area of the gem called our waterfront. There is a splash pad, and a snackbar that are open seasonly.
The trail is beautiful. It can get a bit crowned with the cyclists and people walking.

This is a great place for family walks and picnics. There is a playground, public washrooms and trails along the waterfront leading to historical sites.

There are a few shelters and bbqs but you'd have to get there early. Lots of room to spread a blanket out on the grass
Can you bring your own propane BBQ?

Ajax, Canada16 contributions
Yes, you can bring your own BBQ. But remember, if you want to use any of the built-in picnic areas, then you need a permit. For more info, call +1 (905) 619-2529 ext. 7200. Or see the Town of Ajax website.

Are dogs allowed? Do you have to book and pay for a picnic site?

Also, remember that, "As always, pets are welcome within the park system in the Town of Ajax; however, it is important to note that a dog must be leashed in these areas. An unleashed dog within an Ajax park, other than the two designated Leash Free Dog Areas, is illegal in the Town of Ajax and could result in a $500 ticket.
Residents and visitors using the park system with their pets are asked to clear away any pet waste that may be created during their time in the park. Keeping pet waste clear helps create a clean and healthy environment for all visitors young and old." - The Town of Ajax website
