SSSI

This is a magnificent SSSI beach but please do not take your dogs particularly during the nesting session and beware of the restrictions for dogs due this summer from end of April. There are plenty of other beaches in Northumberland where you can let your dogs run free. Please also do not approach any hauled out seals - use your binoculars and stay well back from them. I have seen people get far too close just because they want to take a photo and we have all seen what this can result in. Please use common sense and help to keep this a special place for all. Sorry for this reminder of the country code - please take all your rubbish home with you including your dog poo bags thank you.

One of the best beaches we've ever seen
10/2020
So good in these troubled times to be able to walk on clean sand stretching for miles. With Lindisfarne in one direction and Bamburgh Castle in the other we were surprised more people where not there when we visited. A magical place.

Beware of the cows
10/2020
Beautiful unspoilt beach reached across dunes. Fantastic views of Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle. However our trip was spoilt by a frightening experience when we attempted to return to our car. The cows which had been very docile on our outward trip became very aggressive when we returned. We felt very fortunate to get back safely to our car without incident. Don’t think we’ll be returning!

Enjoyed Rolling down the Sandhills as much as I enjoyed the views, birds and the beautiful sand colour.

Glorious expanse of golden sand
9/2020
A few years ago one could walk from where you park across farmland to the dunes and beach without seeing a soul - now the walk is fairly busy with tourists and dog walkers but this does not deter from the beauty of the scenery. When you arrive at the dunes you cross and find magnificent views of the long and peaceful beach with distant views of Bamburgh Castle. Because of its expanse, the beach is always quiet and you can enjoy miles of golden sand and sea views. There are no facilities here but the feeling of openness and unspoilt coast is the attraction for us.

Gorgeous

Visited at the begining of September on a lovely warm sunny day. Its a bit of a trek acrooss the dunes but boy is it worth it. A beautiful long sandy beach with views up to Lindesfarne and down to Bamburg castle.

Unchanged since at least 2016

Absolutely no better than KTWOuk's excellent review in 2016. Just miles of empty sand reached by a winding footpath. Nothing to look at except the sea, the sky, the birds and Holy Island. No fish and chips, no amusement arcades & no WiFi. Got here if you must but don't say you weren't warned!

Fantastic stretch of beach. You could walk for miles. Difficult parking and walk initially but well worth the effort. Loved it!

Lovely beach

I didn't quite have the weather for it, but its a long, white sand beach with no facilities with Bamburgh castle on one end and Lindisfarne Castle views on the other - you come out about half way so your choice is which way to go!

On a fine day with the sun out I'd definitely go Banburgh way as you get to check out the colours of the water at Budle Bay, although walking towards Lindisfarne you do get some dunes and closer views.

The free parking area in Ross is a good 30 minutes walk away from the beach (depending how fast you go) and for those concerned with COVID be aware that you need to handle multiple gates so come prepared to do that!

Not worth the walk.

One of the worse places I have ever been. Huge walk to the beach through farm fields full of raging bulls, be prepared to run and bloody fast! When you finally get there, there is nothing to do, no amenities, just nothing. I will save you a trip and just don't go.
