Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There are trimming jobs to be completed here. The place has unkempt look. There really should be a groundsperson to take care here. Headstones are artistic.

I drove around a bit looking at all the old headstones, they really need a groundskeeper to trim overgrown branches away from the roads around the gravestones, not wanting to scratch my vehicle I had to turn around a few times but as tight as it is you have to back-up quite a ways at times, and it is very hard to maneuver around, I pulled up to the house at the entrance as a gentleman was coming out, he worked there and gave me some history said it opened in 1845 and the next day they had their first burial, so several of the older gravestones some people were actually born in the mid 1700’s. I saw rows of headstones with the same and close dates they were soldiers in the Civil War. They don’t have any kind of map or information as to who is buried where or when which would be very interesting having some facts about at least some of the dignitaries buried there, still very interesting though has the potential to be so much more.

This is a cool old cemetery to explore with old tombstones, mature trees, & winding paths. While it certainly needs some maintenance, it's still a fun place to ramble for an hour. Many of the old gravestones are elaborate, & they are quite an eclectic mix. We'll go again next time we're in Harrisburg. Enter off of 13th Street. It's just a short drive to the Capitol or the National Civil War Museum.

Even with snow on the ground I could tell this was a well maintained historic cemetery that sits on 35 acres and was founded in 1845. After the Civil War there were 155 men from both the union and the confederacy buried here. The headstones were in good shape considering the age of the cemetery. If you enjoy visiting old cemeteries and you are in the area, it's a must see. If the ground had not been so wet from the melting snow we would have spent more time walking around.

Weed wacker needed almost everywhere. Poison ivy needs sprayed. Monuments are in pretty good shape, but lots of work needs to be done to bring the grounds up to par.

Lots of large gravesites, famour people (1st Mayor of San Francisco, Abe Lincoln's Sec. of War duriing Civil War, Founder of the Churh of God, etc), Some have staircases on either side which you have to walk down to see grave with view of city skyline. '
Cemetery 200+ years old. Has buildilng where bodies where kept till spring , when they could be buried after ground thawed.
Interesting place.

Because it was such a cold windy day, we choose to drive around the cemetery. The roads are old and grown over with grass. It's a little creepy, but in a good way.

David, the caretaker, will take you on a hour tour around the cemetery pointing out notable folks buried there, and there are several! Including business folks, suffragettes, actors and a bank robber. He makes the cemetery residents come to life (pun intended).
