The best kept secret in all Yosemite
11/2019
You'll see what no picture will make justice It's incredibly beautiful and more, you can't miss this visit It's just a short hike (45') Best time of the day the sunset, but make sure to get a flashlight with you, there's no chance to make it back with daylight (obviously) and you'll need some light to find your way back

Very Scenic
9/2020
Beautiful place. Visited in Sept 2020 and they have cones on the "shortcut" route farther up Glacier Point road. Did the loop to Taft Point and would not recommend as it does not follow the edge of the cliff - was not very scenic and was longer than going back to parking lot and then to Taft Point. If I had to do again, would go back to the parking lot.

Greats views!
8/2020
The views from Sentinel dome are breathtaking. You can see Half Dome and the eastern half of Yosemite Valley on one side, and El Capitan, the Three Brothers, and the western half of Yosemite Valley on the other side. The hike is relatively easy for anyone who is healthy. It's about 2 miles round trip. My wife made it and she's never hiked up a mountain in her life. The trail winds around the backside of Sentinel Dome and gently ascends to the summit. It is not as steep as it might seem when you look up at it from the approach on the opposite side. Use caution if it is raining or wet outside, unless you are experienced. The granite stone is smooth and polished and it can get extremely slippery when wet.

THE view at Yosemite!
7/2020
This is the place to come for views if you only have limited time or are unable to undertake some of the more strenuous hikes. The short and fairly easy hike to the dome is followed by a marginally steep but also short hike up the dome itself, upon the summit of which truly glorious views of the region can be found in all directions - Half Dome, El Capitan and all the rest. This is a superior view to that from Glacier Point other than being somewhat further away from Nevada Falls. Note that the trail leads to what appears to require a super steep climb up the dome's face, but you need to continue walking around the dome to its right and there will be a much easier climb to the top.

Favourite views

Our family favourite viewpoint. Requires a pleasant hike to the dome itself, atop which you can get a 360 degree view including Half Dome, El Capitan and Yosemite Falls. Never gets as busy as Washburn or Glacier Point which is great considering the amazing views.

Spectacular Sentinel Dome
8/2019
Our second favorite hike at Yosemite (Nevada Falls Loops was #1). The main portion of the hike is short and fairly easy. It's the last portion when you have to climb the dome to the top that is really tough. It is extremely steep and challenging to climb, but the payoff is immense. This hike isn't as crowded as some of the rest, and some people stop halfway up the dome and don't make it. We left early for this hike and were able to enjoy the top of the dome for 15 minutes before anyone else made it up..and the views were just spectacular. My key tip: don't give up half way up the dome like many...take your time and pace yourself...you won't regret it.

Awesome Hike for ALL
6/2020 • Perhe
Family of 11 (ages from 65 to 10). We had group of a mixture of knee replacement patients, back issues, overweight, those in great health, very fit, athletic, adrenaline junkies, and one with a fear of heights... EVERYONE completed this height happy, at their own pace, and were rewarded with one of the best views in the park. Teens free climbed the front of the dome, the rest of us stayed in the trail, the hurt ones used hiking poles and braces. This hike was a must for a family trip!

Great place to get a 360 view of the Yosemite Park
8/2019
This is a great place to get a 360 degree view of the Park. The trail to get access to the dome is pretty easy. The parking lot does get full pretty quickly so ensure to visit outside of busy hours.

Amazing views
6/2019
We saw Sentinel Dome from Glacier Point while at Yosemite. It was so massive in statue. We saw a couple of people climbing Half Dome while we were there, looking like tiny specks from our vantage point. This is a must see location when the road is open. We were fortunate to be able to see it.

Our favourite hike and view
9/2019
This is a relatively easy walk from the car park and yet not too crowded, especially if you go in the first part of the morning. It's a very pretty approach and then, when you get to the top, the views are simply incredible. You've got Yosemite Valley and El Capitan on one side and Half Dome on the other. Top Tip: would be to take your time and sit down to enjoy partial views along the way. We spent a total of about 2 hours getting to the summit and back to the car which felt about right. Then drive on up to Glacier Point to finish your tour of the upper part of Yosemite.
