Lovely visit on a cold spring day
Nice spring day for a nice hike. We got on the hop on hop off-bus from Rethymnon and hiked for the day. Lovely views and clear paths. Some parts were a bit messy, e.g. glass and other trash, but only for tiny inconvinience. Had a lovely day. In the summer this could be a bit too hot, but this time just perfect!

    Beautiful hike but bring water!
A lovely long walk with beautiful views. There’s a taverna at the beginning and the end of the path for refreshments. The walk back was a little difficult in the heat but we felt very accomplished! To the end of the path and back is around 10km.

    Lovely gorge
Beautiful gorge - arrived at 9.30 and parked at the bottom by the Banana Tavern. First section very shady and cool. Lovely scenery including old chapel with a bell. After an hour reached the tavern near the top and had refreshments before the walk back. Recommend doing this way as easier waking back downhill when it’s hotter.

    Great Views. A 'Must Visit'.
The views of, and from, the Gorge are stunning! There is an old Village, which is now derelict. It gives a fascinating view of how people lived. The walks are lovely, from being enclosed by trees to open views! There is also a Cafe there, which is a welcome stop, for food and refreshments. Well worth a visit! Get the RED 'Hop on Hop off' bus frpm the seafront in Rethymnon NB. It is hard going on the legs, so if you have mobility problems, then it's not for you. Get the 'Hop on Hop off' bus from the seafront in Rethymnon, which stops there, or just to see the views.

Interesting Hike - Lots to See
Lots of interesting things to see along this gorge hike; decaying mills and structures, old aqueducts, bridges, small churches and streams that lead the way. The hike is actually very lush and tropical with climbing vines/wild vegetation which provide plenty of shade. It took us about one hour to walk one-way to the end (did not walk further to Cantina). Unfortunately there was a looming thunderstorm and with the numerous “landslide” warnings along the trail, we turned around at the end and walked back uphill, which was obviously more challenging. In some parts the trail is eroded and would suggest not hiking this after heavy rain. This is such a beautiful trail and somewhat a shame to see the state of it. Hopefully some improvements are in its future. Also to note, there was practically no one else hiking and a great place to get away from the crowds.

We enjoyed the hike down this beautiful gorge immensely! With water rushing along the entire trail, plenty of shade, picturesque views and the proximity to Rethymno, this is a treasure. Don't forget to make a pit stop at Cantina Banana at the bottom of the gorge!

We were thinking August would be too hot but we’re glad to have visited Myli. It’s shaded and cool for the most part.
Our kids are 8,11 and we’d say we’re a fairly active family. We enjoyed a 90 min hike. It’s steep at parts but nothing hard with a pair of good sneakers. Kids loved it. And the cafe was nice for a refreshing drink.
It’s a stop in the hop on hop off bus if you’re staying in Rethymno.

A gorgeous and interesting gorge walk. I would advise to drive up to the top of the path, there is room to leave your car at the side of the road or also I did see a regular bus on that road too. Walking down is obviously easier in the heat and you could always either catch a taxi or bus up the road again to the starting point and have a well deserved beer and bite to eat at the lovely Taverna 😊

What a beautiful day. Very hot, but worth it. Lots of shadow. After the hike we had a little salad in the mili-café. Good Greek food.

We are a young, fit couple and thoroughly enjoyed this walk/ climb. The path is clear and the views and nature are stunning. However, unlike previous reviews we would not recommend this gorge to children under 12 or to people over 65 or with health issues. The path is uneven and steep and especially the return journey was quite a workout in the heat. We had a great time though and recommend this gorge as a shorter alternative to the Samaria gorge and as an active break of a lazy holiday.
