What travellers are saying
- Yvette H3 contributionsIt was beautiful unlike no other place I visited before.i wish to live there one of these days so peaceful and pleasant not fast paced at all .Written 6 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FlintyDerbyDerby27 contributionsWhen you get there and find it - it is great. However it is not that easy. Be warned. If you go in a taxi (as we did) it is a fairly long, very difficult walk along an extremely rocky beach.
The taxi will drop you off at a very nice area (small fee) with a bar and sunbeds but the bubbles are way up the beach. Where the buoys are.
I would recommend you go via boat. Much easier.
Snorkelling is not much better than anywhere else but the bubbles are worth seeing.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Travel L14 contributions
Almost all of Dominica's beaches are black sand, but this is one of the best and with the best services, including sunbed rentals.
Hot and transparent water. Several beach bars where you can eat at reasonable prices.Written 4 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Chadi was wonderful with our 10 year old daughter and knew lots of the local history, geology and wildlife. We hope to come back and do another tour with him in the future.Written 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - kbkhkhNew Jersey45 contributionsOMG - what a secret treasure. You trek along the gardens nestled in the middle of the “jungle”.
Then you enter in a hot spa pool, then into the warm pool, and if you are brave enough go into the cold pool and under the fall, then you will absolutely have the time of your life.Written 16 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The trail is overgrown in some areas but I am travelling out of season. I could not have achieved the adventure with my amazing guide and now friend Nigel George (+17672853179). Nigel put his body on the line to ensure we achieved reaching the end of each segment. We swam in waterfalls together, swam down rivers and climbed the highest mountains. Section 8 was very hard and made me feel my age (50) and had quite a lot of razor grass and so my advice would be to wear long trousers and a long top. Nigel and his brother Javid work together to ensure transport is available at the end of each trail. Anyone attempting this adventure should make sure they have Nigel as support. He knows the trails and keeps it safe. I would have been lost without him!Written 18 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Neil FBath, UK50 contributionsMorne Bruce is a hill in Roseau, giving excellent views of the city, particularly in the morning, and a pleasant spot for a walk in its own right.Written 27 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MCCSouth West England, UK350 contributionsThe 40-acre Botanic Gardens of Dominica is situated at the base Morne Bruce hill, located about 50 meters from the Roseau River is situated on a former sugarcane plantation. The Gardens were reputed to be the premier botanic gardens in the Caribbean. More than half of the gardens are manicured lawns, with ornamental shrubs and exotic trees. Of interest is the Bamboo House which has been cultivated so as to make a glade withing a bamboo thicket. Just behind is the parrot and small animal sanctuary which houses the the national bird, the stunning Sisserou Parrot. Walking further one will see a bus that was crushed by a falling baobab tree during the Hurricane David in 1979, fortunately no one was hurt. The gardens are now also used for cricket matches, national parades and cultural celebrations, religious open air ceremonies and recreational activities.Written 1 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cam NLos Angeles, CA205 contributionsSince the time of the virus things have changed dramatically on many caribbean islands and Dominica is no exception so it would stand to reason that the market is a vanishing place to do business.
