Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- alan_uk1953Scarborough, UK782 contributionsWe came here to see an opera. The theatre is a fine building with the auditorium being very spectacular. It was our first visit, but we will be backWritten 18 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- fourcats130Barking, UK109 contributionsI love this venue. I would recommend seeing anything here. I went for the panto, which was FAB-U-LOUS, as always. The energy that exuded from the cast was palpable. They were obviously having as much fun as the audience.Written 10 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NicolaWakefield, UK9 contributionsWatched the most fabulous production of Oliver. It was so good I went again! A great venue, wherever you sit you have a good seat. - Chris JLeeds, UK7 contributionsGreat fun and a more unique concept compared to the other escape rooms available in Leeds. A shout out to Teddy who was accommodating after we were late due to taxis, and his brilliant sense of humour in character added quality to the experience.Written 1 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chris BLeeds, UK8 contributionsFabulous theatre. Always offer tickets for our students with additional needs to go to the panto. They absolutely love it! The quiet performances are fabulous. Thank you for your generosity. Great theatre.Written 14 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Anonymous79 contributionsAbsolutely loved our first visit to Yeadon Town Hall. The Stage Door Café is lovely with excellent, reasonably priced food and fantastic service (including a West End-worthy performance of Cabaret from one of the staff members!). The theatre was also lovely - honestly wasn't expecting too much from an amateur performance but I thoroughly enjoyed the musical from start to finish. Already looking forward to our next visit!Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Eloise C1 contributionI went to fruity Friday as a first year. Great night, great music. At around 3am I felt an odd pain in my shoulder. As a girl conscious of spiking by needles I stepped outside with my friends. Instantly a group of medics and bouncers came over to check on me and escorted me to a more private space. Mel and graham checked all of my vitals and asked me important questions. I felt completely safe and looked after by both of them. They let a friend of mine come with me so I felt comfortable. I have never experienced such kindness at a club. Luckily everything was okay and the check up was just a precaution. They informed me that I could call or visit back at any time. Fully recommend this club. I have never experienced such kindness by bouncers. Thank you everyone who helped.Written 14 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Craighullhull, England38 contributionsSuperb lively and life enhancing Nutcracker ballet in Hull today. The magic started as the curtain rose, enchanting scenery, magical story . The costumes are stunning, loved the magicians cloak and the two acrobats striped trousers.
The sets were superb and very clever, the sleigh moving across the stage, fabulous.
The whole company are to be commended on a wonderful production. There was groups of school children in the audience and I hope the magic of this ballet inspired them.Written 1 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - J H2 contributionsMassive thanks to Patrick and Kelly for an awesome time last Saturday night; we’re still dancing around the house to the tunes we Shazammed in the bar!
It was our first time out in a while and didn’t end as planned. We had a gorgeous meal in Stuzzi and was heading to Domino, but think we had to much of a good time making new friends and far too much fun on the gin cocktails. What a cool place - reminds us of The Townhouse 2nd floor from back in the day. Far far too easy to get drunk and let the time slip away! Thanks guys, see you all again soon!Written 9 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Linkey W1 contributionWe would very happily fully recommend the Engine Shed as a Wedding venue or for any other party you’d like to have!
From venue searching to aftercare, we have had a thoroughly positive experience celebrating our wedding here. Venue searching was the worst part of wedding planning for us as often venues make costs hard to see and a bit convoluted. However, with the Engine Shed we loved that everything was up front and easy to find through the website without needing to even email. Helping to save emails and time from the start. When we did go and visit for the first time, Lee (who worked with us throughout) was so relaxed and friendly and made everything feel really simple and easy. This ‘vibe’ continued throughout the whole process to the day itself where everything ran so smoothly and well - we had so many comments from guests about how well the staff/Lee ran everything! Nothing seemed too difficult to manage for Lee and the Engine Shed staff. Most of the vendors we used were recommended by the Engine Shed or we found them at one of their wedding fairs - all of whom were great and we would also recommend. It all made for a stress free planning process.
We loved the venue itself from the moment we walked in on our first visit - the space was so fun and different and just felt perfect for us. The venue stylist (Treasured Occasions) who came as part of the wedding package we went for, then made the venue look just beautiful for our day - they were really flexible and could easily work with our colour scheme and ‘look’ to make it all feel just right on our day. We absolutely loved how it all came together and again got so many comments from guests about how great the venue looked and worked for the whole day.
As part of our package, our wedding breakfast was a Carvery, which was perfect for us. It was also absolutely delicious and again we had lots of great feedback from guests about the food. There was also a fun twist, where we secretly chose a carver for each table who were ’surprised’ on the day - creating some fun and excitement around the meal. We then had ‘hot sandwiches’ for the evening food (e.g. sausage, bacon, fish along with chips) - and when we asked if we could source ‘square sausage’ for this (a Scottish delicacy) instead of regular sausages, Lee immediately swapped this in and took on sourcing it for us, which was amazing! They could cater for all dietary needs regardless of the reason, which was great as we did have a large number of guests with different needs. We also really liked that we could go for a drinks token system rather than wine for the tables - to help more easily cater for those avoiding alcohol and those not so keen on wine.
Long story short - we had the absolute best Wedding day at the Engine Shed and we can’t recommend them highly enough! It so easy to see why they are award winning.Written 19 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Auditorium is upstairs, but there is a lift and a chair lift also for those who might not be too mobile. Productions are always good, seating is plentiful - we always sit in the balcony, but there is no lift up to that floor.Written 4 August 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
