Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Susan TNew London, CT78 contributionsBright and cheerful, we arrived when it opened at 10am and had a great breakfast. You visit the vendors and choose your preferences to eat at tables in the center. After coffees and tortilla (egg and potato upside down omelette) I confess I had to try a glass of Sangria! Delicious! (It was 5 pm somewhere, right?).Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Julie R1 contributionAmazing way to connect with our inner child. Went there with my grumpy teen to have some mother daughter time and we both had a lot of fun 😁Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BencelticNewtownabbey, UK13 contributionsBusy market open every Sunday with loads of open-air stalls selling all sorts of clothes, jewellry and merchanise, both used, antique and new.Written 11 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - llang629Bay Area19 contributionsA pleasant neighborhood market, with various kiosks offering ready-to-eat food and ingredients like fish and vegetables. Comfortable for a drink and tapas. Also a larger supermarket in the lower floor.
Not fancy enough to go far out of your way, but honestly more pleasant than Mercado San Miguel, near Plaza Mayor, which has become a crowded tourist trap.
Also enjoyed Mercado de La Boqueria in Barcelona and Mercat Central in Valencia. They're real working markets, so they're usually wrapping up no later than 2 p.m.Written 5 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If you are in the neighbourhood and are looking for a place to chill for a while, this is pretty cool. There is a restaurant inside and they host shows/ music at night. There’s an open courtyard with some interesting architecture to explore and places to sit and relax away from the busy streets.Written 25 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mairwen1United Kingdom9,565 contributionsThis street was one of the highlights of our trip to Madrid. It might only be a relatively short street but it’s one of the best. It’s a warren of tapas bars, with around 50 or so in the one small area. We started at one end and made our way along them, picking and choosing in a random sort of way. The street follows the curves of the original 12th-century city wall and in some of the bars like Posada del Dragon, you can still see remains of some of the wall.
Our top three places were:
1. La Concha
2. Pousada del Dragon
3. Casa Luca
La Concha was our absolute favourite. A tiny place full of character that served an amazing vermouth cocktail and complimentary tapas. They make their own vermouth which they sell at €12 a bottle. We left with our backpack clinking because we'd bought two.
GETTING THERE: 5 min walk from Plaza MayorWritten 10 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Carsten HSvendborg, Denmark36 contributionsVery nice traditional market with food-stalls and restaurants. It is situated in barrio Salamanca, one of the richest neighbourhoods in Madrid, and therefore everything is so neat and tidy that it almost doesn't feel like a real market. But the stalls and restaurants are fine and the products the sell as well.Written 22 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - terrence_qManchester, UK31 contributionsSmall, local market about 20 minutes walk from the much more touristy (and expensive) San Miguel. Very diverse selection of food retailers ranging from Japanese to Mexican to more traditional tapas. We had Mexican on a Thursday evening and it wasn't very busy but there was a nice atmosphere. Seemed to be mostly locals rather than tourists when we visited. A really enjoyable alternative to some of the more overhyped food markets in Madrid.Written 2 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dr_Iris_BRamat Gan, Israel1,324 contributionsThis is a HUGE store! It featured typical mall options, places to head, brand/flag outlets etc. Nice place to hang out.Written 30 April 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Angela LIstanbul, Türkiye9 contributionsI went to the gaming exhibition at Fundacion Canal and was blown away by the quality and size of the expo. I could have spent all day there, but kept it to 3 hours. For only 9 euros, I got a complete history of video games from the 1970s to the present with every single game available to play. I had a fantastic time. This location can't be missed and, though it's not in the city centre, is an easy trip by metro to Plaza de Castilla on the blue line.Written 30 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
