Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A small museum inside a small museum. Worth visiting just to see the Teatro Anatomico which has amazing wooden carved statues of famouse medical men of the area from yesteryear. A beautiful and unusual room with fantastic wooden carvings and decor throughout. The rest of the museum is ok, not a must do for me, but definitely worth seeing. I can imaging in the summer it will be packed and lots of queuing.

Teatro Comunale is in student quarter and very popular with well heeled Bolognaise. Tickets are expensaive £70/£90 but worth it for the setting and the experience. You can book in person in Booking Office after 2.00. Cheaper than online and staff are very friendly. Queuing can take a while. We saw "Barber of Seville" in a modern setting. Great

At the end of December, we went there to see Christmas Carol and it was an awesome play, so we even thought of buying a season ticket to visit the Theater more often. But the second time we went there to see a musical was a complete mess. The play was on 5th January during the Christmas holidays and for us, it was the return day from a short vacation using a train, but we wanted to go there despite we couldn't leave our usual (no trekking!) school backpacks elsewhere as there was no time to pass home. At the theater, we passed and asked gently in the wardrobe if it was possible to leave backpacks.

A note: we've visited dozens of theaters and never had to pay - neither for jackets nor for bags.

The answer was that we had to pay 2 euros for each item (1 jacket and 1 bag each, in total 4 pieces), so we refused, as it's AN OPTIONAL SERVICE.
But a lady from the wardrobe started to insist and promised to create us problems.
In the hall, our places were on the edge of a line with plenty of space (look at the photo - backpacks are not even visible!) and all the passages were free. But that lady ran around the Theater hoping to find us and made us pay. She asked other personnel to do the same and in the end, we had an unpleasant talk with the "director" - who was really disrespectful and rude, she started to scream and when we told her that we were unhappy with the treatment and we probably won't visit this theater anymore, her words were "I don't care about you at all, you should pay what the lady asks".

At the end of the story:
    - a few people with spoiled mood
    - the theater gained 8 euros in wardrobe and lost 2 year-season tickets
    - all the people kept bags in the hall - only we weren't allowed that

Not the best way to attract families to see plays, is it?

Another attached photo with rules of the wardrobe - nothing's written about backpacks.

This theatre is located along the city’s central avenue, via dell’Indipendenza.

The theatre was opened in 1810 as an open-air theatre. It was built on the site of a 16th-century convent of which some parts are still visible today.

At some stages in the 20th century, the theatre was transformed into a cinema. Now it is again a theatre showing national and international theatre and dance shows.

During the month of May, every year, a string-quartet cycle takes place at the Accademia. This cycle consists of four concerts of internatiional string quartets of very high quality. In the north of Italy there is an important chamber music tradition, being Milano the epicenter of it, but the smaller cities are also part of it. I was lucky enough to attend to a couple of concerts of this cycle at the Accademia Filarmonica de Bologna and I am happy I did it as the venue proves an ideal one for this type of music. Concert halls are normally intended to be used by symphony orchestras and choirs. They are big and dry, and therefore chamber music ensembles tend to sound thin and small in scale in those venues. This genre was meant to be played in small halls such as the one at the Accademia. Well, both concerts were perfect! The sound of the ensembles was loud and clear, allowing an emotional intensity not possible in larger halls. The place is oldish, quaint, and not very well kept, but the musical experience justicies 100% going there. I urge all chamber-music lovers to try to get tickets and attend a concert there. Besides this, this very old building has something to do with the time Mozart visited the city. Alas, I am not sure which is the actual connection, so I will not comment on this.

Okay I do not expect much from a concert venue, particularly a small concert venue, and the Estragon did not disappoint.

It was very difficult to get into the actual concert venue area (set amongst what appeared to be industrial units) being located immediately off what amounted to a motorway. So getting there on foot from the centre of Bologna was a challenge, not so much in terms of distance (we walked the couple of miles in about 30 minutes) but in accessing the patch of ground it was located on once there.

And we were not alone in having trouble accessing the general vicinity of the Estragon, and i eventually found myself leading a group of equally lost Italian, French and English fans over a fence and into the complex’s grounds.

Once there we found a large van selling beer (the only place outside the venue selling beer / burgers etc) and the cost was €4 for a 330ml bottle of Becks etc. So for UK readers that’s about £8 a pint! But don’t be too alarmed because that’s about the cost of beer in Bologna generally (330ml bottle was circa €4).

Once in the venue there was a single bar ...or rather a bunch of tables thrown together with a few table cloths chucked across them ...and again the exorbitant beer.

The concert venue itself is effectively a large rectangular tent with a stage at one end. The ground is flat, not not much help for those at the back unless you’re 6ft tall.

Did any of this bother me? Not at all ...we were there to listen to Passenger and the concert was great. Sound is very good, and lighting was also very good.

Just don’t plan to mix the music with a few beers unless you’re happy to be fleeced and that’s if you manage to find the venue in the first place!

We visited the Teatro Manzoni to see Jack Savoretti. What a lovely theatre. Great charm and character. Comfy seats, great legroom and good view. Nice bar in the basement and complimentary cloakroom. The acoustics were great and the atmosphere was superb. Brilliant show, great venue and top night!!!

To ask € 15 for a glass wine and some bread with some cheese/meat is rather over the top. The products were good, service could be better. Before events they need to think of another way to offer an apertivo. This way people get annoyed and have to enter with an empty stomach
