Do not miss this hidden treasure! The ancient ruins of this Teatro, or amphitheater, are riveting, but it is Claudio who brings them and the history of the Lombardy region to life. This site is not open to the public, there are no signs at the location (which is in the basement of the Chamber of Commerce) and there is no website. As a result, you must email or call, in advance, to set up a reservation and get directions. With an email to teatroromano@mi.camcom.it, I requested a private tour (in English) with Claudio. He was passionate about his city, its history and the discovery of these ruins; in turn, so were we. With Claudio’s presentation and the remnants of the Teatro below us, we could envision the amphitheater full of its citizens and rulers as well as imagine the sounds, tastes and smells. This visit was one of the highlights in Milan, a visit we will talk about for years to come.
