Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Thomas VOakland, CA16,858 contributionsOne of the grandest buildings on the Grand Place, you will want to linger and adore its architectural might. Take some photos, although that might be hard to do as there are so many tourists around. We were here on a weekend so were unable to get inside.Written 1 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JoCotswolds, UK55 contributionsLots of events go on in the Parc all year round. My only note would be I’d love a notice board where it showed what was in the pipe line.
The ground staff are always helpful and willing to chat about floral displays etc.Written 1 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nick FGreece124 contributionsThe Grand Place square, 110 m long and 68 m wide, is surrounded by 29 buildings of the Houses of various craft and trade guilds, built at the end of the 17th century. The citizens smile that thanks to King Louis 14, on whose orders almost the entire city was destroyed, the new version of the square has become even more beautiful. Built in the Flemish Baroque style, the guild buildings are richly decorated with statues and sculptures, ornaments and reliefs. For me, the most interesting buildings are located on the right, when looking from the Town Hall. There are 6 guild houses on this side of the square, the names of which you can learn on your own or from your guide😎.Written 30 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LeonhknyHong Kong, China14,495 contributionsThis is an impressive building in downtown Brussels. Belgium's former stock exchange building is a colossal neoclassical structure that is quite uncommon in the city. Unfortunately there is ongoing renovation work around the square and it seems that there is no way to get in.Written 12 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - nam p53 contributionsBeautiful but is surrounded by scaffoldings at the moment. I'm really looking foward to come back there on a sunny day when the construction is doneWritten 3 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LeonhknyHong Kong, China14,495 contributionsThis is a small church in downtown Brussels. In contrast to the hordes of tourists at the Grand Place or Manneken Pis, Eglise St-Nicolas is a peaceful place for spiritual self-reflection. Interior is simple. Great for a short rest while exploring the Belgian capital.Written 12 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - lynngaskinBath, UK71 contributionsThis place was just up the road from the hotel so I stumbled on it as I was walking up Rue di Royale. Has a great cafe just check opening times. They speak good English too! The garden are beautiful and fountain is working. Lots of interesting larger than life statues children will love.Written 27 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Radek MBertrange, Luxembourg171 contributionsA great art-deco villa and garden, to be best enjoyed on a sunny day. A pity you cannot swim in the iconic swimming pool.
I was not that impressed with the exhibition which aimed to fill the otherwise quite empty rooms on the first floor. Proper furniture would add to the experience, but that it just my view anyway.Written 26 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Eglise Sainte-Catherine is a larger cathedral with an imposing facade and relatively unpolished interior. It is a quiet place without many tourists.Written 12 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- sweatmaStow6 contributionsI’m glad to have the request to review this, since it should help other travelers.
I was struck (not at the stroke of midnight)or noon) by the beauty of the clock on the building and so fascinated to see the figurines come out, that I kept trying to align my visit to be in front of it when I heard the bells chime. I asked locals, who didn’t seem to know, and googled for information until I finally got the information, that there is no longer any movement, but sound only, every 15 minutes.
Although Trip advisor reviews had mentioned the experience being worth while, I got the answer on a website: theurgetowander.com that my efforts to see the figurines move was going to be futile.Written 8 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The church dates back to the 12th-century and mainly features early Romanesque and Gothic features added during the 15th-century. There is also a Baroque style tower that was added after the French bombardment in the late 17th-century. Notably, this is where Flemish Old Master Pieter Bruegel the Elder is buried.
In addition to an impressive exterior, there are a couple monuments outside the church worth having a look-see. These include the recent tribute statue and plaque to Bruegel as well as a replica obelisk fountain that resembles the 18th-century monument that once rested on the old church grounds before they were converted into a public square in the 1820s.
There are interesting things to see within the church as well including fresco paintings, stained-glass windows, delicately carved wooden pulpit and confessionals, Baroque side altars and other items of religious worship. The main altar and apse are nicely ornamented while the nave offers statue lined columns. Overall, it is a nice church, worth 10-15 minutes to explore if you are interested in historic churches and enjoy seeing them during your travels.Written 21 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The performance was outstanding as well. The only issue we found (coming from Miami), was the heating system. It was November and was cold outside but it was burning inside the building. We were sweating the whole time.Written 8 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- LeonhknyHong Kong, China14,495 contributionsWhile Brussels may be full of concrete, unremarkable buildings, this is a better one for some attention. Maison Cauchie is a designer house close to the boring EU neighborhood. In contrast to the slob of glass and steel nearby, this small house at least adds some character to the Belgian capital.Written 14 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
