Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- DP8505Tudeley, UK9 contributionsAnyone that suggests doing this in flip-flops is frankly barking mad!
We had blood (yes really) sweat & tears. Two of the three wouldn’t have been applicable if two of our party hadn’t followed another review which stupidly suggested flip-flops were ok!Written 23 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tracy WLeeds, UK30 contributions9k each way in the blazing sun with no shops of toilets along the way. Not for the faint hearted. Gorgeous cliffside walk to a lovely little historical village. The handmade wooden craft shop is delightful. The owner can't do enough for you, such a wonderful man. Well worth a trip.Written 2 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Maayke BAlmelo, The Netherlands3 contributionsWhen my boyfriend and I saw this hiking place, we really wanted to take a look. Getting there was not easy, cause the locals did not even know it and had to research the location... Once we were there we ended up in a tiny little forest where the path was not clear and it was very confusing. Eventually we found a fence that was an entrance to a path. We did not know where to go, because it was very unclear. We just went down, but soon we noticed the path was very unstable. A lot of safety fences were broken, so we couldn't rely on any support during the steep way down. Also, the ground was very dry which made it very slippery among all the loose stones. Considering the view, it was a beautiful, but scary experience. There were a lot of times when I thought I'd fall down the cliff because I slipped on the loose stones, or because the path was so steep or small that I couldn't walk it safely. If you want to do this hike, please consider it is very dangerous and I recommend you think twice about walking the path. Definitely NOT safe for children. And wear shoes if you decide to do the hike. Be safe <3Written 31 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vincent R.Amersfoort, The Netherlands633 contributionsThe gorge lacks one connected hiking trail. As far as i found out, the best option is to hike the path starting at the beach. The rock formations are amazing.Written 9 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Mathew C8 contributionsMy wife, daughter and son-in-law hiked the Samaria Gorge with Christoforos as our guide and companion last week, and it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. Among the four of us, we have traveled widely, lived in Alaska and Austria and hiked/camped/paddled/rafted/fished throughout Western North America, and this was easily one of our top five days outdoors. The entire hike (16 km) was nothing short of breathtaking from start to finish, and having Christoforos along to answer questions and point out details we would certainly have missed added to the day a hundred fold. My daughter spent five years as a rafting/hiking guide inGlacier National Park, and she felt Christoforos struck the perfect balance. He was right there for anything you needed but did not "over-guide." Plus, all the logistics -- the taxi rides to and from the trail, the park fees, the ferry ride to Sougia from Agios Romelli -- were organized perfectly. The per person cost was absolutely worth it, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.Written 4 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vincent R.Amersfoort, The Netherlands633 contributionsThe Pefki gorge is really stunning and even the first kilometers through the olive gardens are worth the hike. The views are great and the scents of all the herbs around are amazing.Written 2 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
