Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- LizofLewesLewes, UK86 contributionsWe didn't spend long at Star Beach. Looked great for teenagers though. It was free to enter and then you pay for the basics - hire of sunbeds, food, etc - and it felt like then you could use the pools and slides.Written 3 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jaxon RMexico City, Mexico5 contributionsOur visit to the Natural History Museum of Crete with the kids was simply fantastic! The museum offers an engaging and educational experience for all ages. From interactive exhibits to fascinating displays of fossils and wildlife, there's something to capture the imagination of every young explorer. It's a must-visit destination for families looking to add a touch of wonder and learning to their Crete itinerary.Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sweeton CCanada102 contributionsLovely, peaceful walk, a bit muddy in places. We went in February on a Friday and there was lots of room to park up by the road. I would recommend driving down the lane to the Venetian Bridge as it is a steep hike back up and not a bad drive down. There is parking for a few cars down there.
The walk itself is well marked and well worn. There are little bridges over the creek but some of the path was flooded so good hiking boots are a must.
We found it took longer than indicated and although we walked down for about 1.45hr we never reached the waterfall as we knew the hike back up would take even longer. Even so, it was very pretty and lots of little waterfalls along the way.Written 12 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Travis H2 contributionsThe seafood cooking experience at the farm was my favorite part of our whole trip to Athens, Crete, and Santorini. Our host was a wonderful woman who made our whole family of seven feel at home. The food was the best meal that we had, which is a testament to the recipes and instructions of the host. Would come back to Greece just to experience this again.Written 21 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - laurac65Yeovil, somerset12 contributionsI contacted the waterpark direct to see if it was open as it was end of season and our Rep implied that they had closed early. They were still open and rang me back to confirm they would arrange a car to transport us to/from the waterpark. They were super efficient to deal with on the phone and very helpful. The car transport was on-time and very nice. The waterpark works on a cashless system which is very handy. There aren't masses of slides , so being quiet we got through them pretty quick - the biggest issue was getting hold of a ring as people were hanging onto them and this limited the availability for everyone else. It was ok though and didn't hugely affect our day. It was a nice clean waterpark , worth a visit if you like slides.Written 8 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - esf44London, UK132 contributionsVery nice beach, very sandy and clean. During our stay in September the water was quite calm but we did have a couple of days where it was very rough and we could not go in. The whole beach has lifeguards and if the red flag is showing they are very hot on stopping you going in the water.

There are two ways to walk (upper level) and lower and we varied it based on the wind the day we went and the crowd. It was a nice walk with viewing sights along the way.. Recommended, however those with mobility issues will find parts of the walk quite challenging.Written 24 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Henk VStalis, Greece10 contributionsIt is almost a secret, nobody could inform us about the Labyrinth park.
And that’s a shame.
We had a wonderful day at the park: In the labyrinth, the escape-room, etc.
The park is not very big, the hosts are great and the atmosphere is great.
We highly recommend the park, for adults and children.

Sometimes local goats visit rocks around the beach and watch visitors. A path to the beach leads from Matala village, 30 minutes about.Written 10 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Thanos A1 contributionBack in September when I was visiting Heraklion, I had the fortune to stumble upon this beautiful winery by checking out the signs in the area nearby. Built atop a hill, you can instantly gaze at the scenic view and the mountainsides, which are landmarks of Crete.
After purchasing a tour of the facility, the hostess took me through the process of their wine and olive oil production - very knowledgeable and welcoming throughout!
By the end, after the wine tasting session in this peaceful setting and after conversing with the lovely owners of the winery, I just had to purchase a few bottles of their wine to enjoy back home!
Unpretentious and traditional... definitely recommended!Written 22 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The monastery itself was only abandoned in 1964. There’s plenty to see around the monastic site itself, and you can’t miss the Roman cisterns (now empty) on the way in. The small theatre, a short walk from the main site, is well preserved, as is the hypocaust system in the bath house.
From the monastery you’ll see a Turkish fort about half a mile away – it’s easy to drive further on to take a closer look, and from the ramparts there are some excellent views of Souda Bay, so you really get a real sense of just what a perfect natural harbour it is. Look out for the small islands at the centre of the entrance to the bay – there is also a very informative exhibition inside the castle to set out just how defensible the bay was. All the small islands that you can see were fortified and connected defensively.
The particular appeal of Aptera is the extensive time span and variety of features that you can take in on your visit – well worth the steep drive up from the main road.Written 4 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Several beautiful icons can be seen here, as well as two paintings by El Greco, ethnographic reconstructions, material on WW II and the German occupation of the island, manuscripts of writer Nikos Kazantzakis's works, first editions of his books in various languages, a numismatic collection, and much more.
A small museum well worth a visit.Written 25 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. He survived and was in a prison camp got the rest of the war. Otherwise we wouldn’t be here. I know this might sound dramatic but my visit here really was profound. I felt so lucky and blessed that my wonderful grandpa was not one of those in this beautiful graveyard. A peaceful place that really lets you understand the horror of war and gives one time to contemplateWritten 10 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
