Tripadvisorās approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- GrogSeattle, WA4 contributionsIf you plan to swim, be sure to check signs that indicate the level of bacteria in the water. It was at safe levels this time! We even went without a phone and it was so easy to navigate to from Brno city center. Just so nice to relax in the sun.Written 15 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TomĆ”Å” ÅCzech Republic17 contributionsGreat place, not so much travellers and beutifull nature. Also great for a half day moto trip, cycle trip, walking. You can visit many destinations around the lake and see lovely nature that was protected due to the borders, there.Written 5 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - IvyBunbury, Australia9 contributionsHuge lake in the middle of the town that is surrounded by Jizera mountains. You can swim there in the summer or enjoy the frozen lake in the winter.Written 10 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tony RPrague, Czech Republic12 contributionsA brilliant day with the added visit of the reservoir and dam structures. Old style design surrounded with forest and very well attended restaurants and bars.
Parking can be a little hit and miss, you might have to leave the car a 10 minute walk away on busy days.
Three restaurants are within a five minute walk and all provide good menu selection for sitting inside or out on the terrace area. Staff are particularly friendly and helpful. Prices are very reasonable as well.
Play areas for children are clean, tidy and close to your dining area for safety.
In summary a good place to either cycle, walk or just bimble along without a care in the world. I personally recommend it!Written 2 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EvaF2EvaWeissenburg in Bayern, Germany4,840 contributionsDam in the Liberec quarter Harcov is one of several dams in the river Nisa basin built at the beginning of 20th century in order to protect the city against floods. Like all of the technical buildings from this time it is not only functional but also very esthetical therefore it is not a surprise that the reservoir and surroundings soon became a popular relaxation zone. The old swimming facility doesn't exist anymore although it is still allowed to swim there. Nowadays it is more often used for walking, fishing or refreshment in the small restaurant on the beach. There is also playground for kids and beach volleyball court. It can be very busy at times.Written 15 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- warman_czPrague, Czech Republic133 contributionsWhen we were planning a trip nearby, we decided to have a day slightly easier and booked to a guided tour to this power plant. We were picked up by a bus in Kouty nad Desnou. During a short ride to the power plant lower parts we had a brief speech from our guide about its history and about the programme of our tour.
First stop was in visitorsā centre in an administrative building in lower area. We watched few short films and the guide told us some interesting facts. Well... I must admit that we booked a regular tour, but next time I would rather go for the technical and special tour. This was okay, but the guided sometime quite confused about what she was saying and it made it a bit silly.
Nevertheless next stop was the turbine hall inside the hill. We walk there down a long tunnel. Inside the hall it was quite loud due to air conditioning and turbines working, so it was hard to listen to the guide. We spent there too much time considering the loudness and nothing to see in there as there was ... almost nothing. We were allowed to move in rather small spot near the entrance, but we could clearly see everything ā cranes under the ceiling, turbines and few sketches hanging on the walls.
Next we get on the bus again and started to climb to the upper reservoir. During this ride there are few amazing views on mountains around and the lower reservoir. On top of the hill we had a 15 minutes break to walk around and enjoy. It was quite windy and in fact chilly, but it was worth of every second spent there. Thatās something you would not see every day. Take a short walk along the lake or just sit and overlook the mountains around. Everything counts.
Than we just get back on the bus and were taken back to the village of Kouty nad Desnou, where the tour ended after 3 hours or so.
If you do not want to go with the guided tour, you should go up with the chair lift, go to the upper reservoir (or take a shuttle bus riding there from upper lift station) and then slowly go down back to the village. The price is slightly lower; you will not visit the power plantās visitorās centre, but will have more time to enjoy the nature there.Written 28 July 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The inside is small and can be seen in 20 minutes but some unique displays and was a pleasant surprise to find everything in English as well as czech.Written 19 October 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
