Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Jiri KBrno, Czech Republic123 contributionsThere are several different routes according to you wish and physical abilities. You will find there marvellous views of high blocks of sandstone, wooden staircases, and a possibility to use a boat trip on the rock lake.Written 7 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sheila SHerndon, VA268 contributionsTruly enjoyed my experience at this location. The area is gorgeous, the cave is beautiful, and the boat ride is entertaining. The young man leading us was very knowledgeable and friendly. This is well worth your time.Written 17 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Miriam KBuenos Aires, Argentina45 contributionsThe place is amazing. The boat can be access on foot only via a steep staircase because the other gorge is closed due to the fire last year. Be ready for an energetic walking down and up, but the place is so magical that it is well worth it. It was our 49th wedding anniversary, so you can imagine we are not the youngest couple doing it, but there is no problem if you take your own pace, The coffee shop on top is great and then we took a bus back very comfortably to where we parked the car.Written 23 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mjones1954Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic12 contributionsA gorgeous walk. While not stroller friendly, it is well marked in Czech, Polish, and English. While not free it is very reasonable (cost about as much as a couple of soft drinks). The trail is cobble stone initially, then changes to gravel. In then areas that are eco protected in is raised wooden structured. The entire walk is very relaxing BEAUTIFUL view of nature. You have the option of climbing 300 steps to a birds-eye view on top of the mountain. The view is awesome but not for the faint of heart.Written 3 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Beatrix TBrno, Czech Republic300 contributionsImpressive rock formations for sure. It's worth combining a visit to this place with a hike to or from Loket - it's an easy hike in both directions, and very rewarding.Written 14 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sandy B1 contributionAbsolutely breathtaking. Not as big as Giant causeway in Ireland, but much bigger than Californian Devils postpiles . All individually unique in three different nature settings.Written 19 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - zizu28Prague, Czech Republic100 contributionsAbsolutely beautiful! Even there were a lot of cars at the parking place, we felt almost alone in the park. It was great. We started at Slavný and went to Hvězda chapel. There we took late lunch and all the trip was great.Written 24 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JULjubljana, Slovenia134 contributionsFar smaller than its larger "brother", but at least not crowded and the path is good even for small children. You can visit also Šaunštejn, which is near the road, but take it carefully and slowly.Written 13 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jana M6 contributionsBOAT RIDE - be prepare to experience some well learned jokes from the ship operator (in Czech and German, he didn´t know English). We went with a young guy whose speech was probably repeated for the hundredth time. You will not learn anything about the history of the gorge or the history of the park during the ride. In short it was just a wannabe funny describing of rocks that looks similar to Bart Simpson or the Easter bunny... so sit back, relax and read info boards along the way because you won´t get any info on the boat...
The waterfall is fake, the ship operator had to pull a rope to make it fall :D
You would totally appreciate a beer after that which was 50 crowns. Also I recommend to go there in the morning, we were almost alone on the way there on Saturday around 10 a.m.
BUT - this boat ride was just a 20 minutes long part of an otherwise wonderful experience. We parked in Hřensko and took a walk towards Edmundova soutěska, I honestly didn´t know where to look first. Beautiful nature and views, the path is not hard at all and totally safe.Written 3 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Trails can be muddy. But VERY happy I went. The fall colours and view, WOW! A highlight of Ostrava!!!Written 26 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- gothgrlRhodes, Greece390 contributionsWe went to Skalne Mesto on a day trip from Poland. It’s an extraordinary place, with the most amazing, huge rock formations, beautiful Nature and some history, too. It’s an easy hike (there’re some steep steps to some of the rocks) perfectly suitable for kids over 7. The lake has stunning colours and some huge fish - however, it’s forbidden to swim there (which is a shame, as the water looked very inviting, but I guess they just really care about Nature and wildlife, which is great). It took us about 5 hours to complete the hike - I went there with my 71-year-old Mum, my teen daughter and her friend. I would also recommend the Jidelna (?) restaurant in town, where you can get the most tasty fried cheese with tartare sauce. Overall, it was a great family day out.Written 26 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Alena B10 contributionsBeautiful and quiet place, few people. In the end pub, food, drinks, parking.

This formation is the best in Europe with the initial stages of block sandstone decay which is documented. It is easy to get here by public bus from Melnik (22 CZK about 20 min) or by walking the red trail from Kokořin Castle or using blue one from Mšeno. You can make interesting cycle on blue and green trail to Apatyka gorge, formation Faraon, Zaba and Hlava. Ad interesting wetlands with unique fauna and flora. It can be done in relax way within 90-120 minutes.Written 23 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
