What travellers are saying
- R Wilson4 contributionsGreat experience. Kids 9 and 11 did stairs in around 40 minutes. Went in morning 8am ish, and was good. Got a grab taxi there and back. There's a small air conditioned are at bottom which was great, and they made delicious Thai roti. Overall was a great day. Tiger cave really interesting to explore. Take lots of water. Wear walking shoes. We saw no monkeys there on the day we went.Written 15 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David DDevon, UK20,544 contributionsFriday 19th January was the first time that we visited this beach, also known as Railay West.
We visited this Beach twice during our recent stay in Ao Nang Beach. On both occasions we travelled here by long-tailed boats. Here is the landing and departure point for the boats.
This crescent shaped beach with it's golden sand stretches for approximately four hundred and fifty metres along the coast. It is situated in a secluded bay with impressive cliffs and headland at both ends. Looking out to sea there are a variety of islands to be seen.
Like all the other beaches there are no sunbeds or umbrellas here. The only natural shade is provided by the trees along the back of the beach, these are very popular areas. Visitors happily spread their beach towels and mats out on the sand.
The holiday hotel resorts, behind the beach, have sunloungers and umbrellas in their grounds for the guests.
Some visitors come and spend time here, we spent a little time then went exploring the peninsula.
From the beach Railay Walking Street, lined with shops, restaurants, bars and more, leads across the peninsula to East Railay Bay Beach and then on to Phra Nang Cave Beach.
Kayaks were available to rent they were 200 Baht (roughly £4.50) for an hour and 300 for two hours. There were all day charges as well, which included free drybag .This enabled visitors to paddle up to and around the picturesque and sometimes dramatic coastline.Written 5 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It’s a walk up to around 300m level, the first part is stair climbing and the second part a steep way up to the viewpoint.
50bath for viewpoint 1+2 is cheap.
The view from point 2 is great and you will not forget.
Start as early in the morning as possible because the heat will become hotter and hotter.
I started at 8am and needed around 55min up to viewpoint 2.I have drunken in total 2l water and it’s definitely not easy.
Viewpoint 3 was closed and is only a little bit higher than point 2.Written 23 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Still worth a visit.Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The sand is really nice and fine and good to lay on with a towel. The water is crystal clear. I enjoyed swimming to the deepest bit of the blocked off area as not many people ventured that far so could pretend everyone else wasn't there!Written 20 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. !!! You must go … absolutely breath taking! One can also stay at the hotels on the beach to enjoy the night life on the island.Written 12 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ruchira KhandelwalNew Delhi, India197 contributionsClean beach, mesmerizing view. When we visited Thailand in November'23 end it rained all 5-6 days. So I couldn't see the sunset but still the view in the rain was good. Fortunately there were no stormy waves on that day of the tour.Written 12 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SusieB10 contributionsWhat an amazing experience! It was so informative and such a caring place. Bang was a brilliant guide. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. They care very deeply for the elephants. Please visit this place if you are in Krabi. It's 100% worth it. Thank you Bang and your team and of course the elephants for making our afternoon so special.Written 18 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SalimMLondon, UK1,863 contributionsThis was one of the first stop on a four island private tour o a longboat. Utter bliss, Very few people when we got there and we could spend as much time as we wanted, No rushing off with a group.
This was two little islands separated by a sandbar. You could walk from one end to the other. The water was clear as expected and it was shallow so you could walk out a bit. The beauty of the place has to be seen to be believed.Written 10 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If you walk the other end of the beach you can take a long tail boat to Railay and other island hopping.Written 13 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Fee K DeeMelbourne, Australia11 contributionsI’m here for the quiet and the remoteness of the beach. The water is blue the sand white and it’s off peak season and so very quiet. Feeling like it was too quiet ( I don’t do relaxing very well!) I found out how to get to the next beach down (Loh Ba Kao Bay) without the 40 min walk; take a little motorbike with sidecar from a tiny hut right at the south end of Laem Tong beach; to find it walk on the beach right to the end of the Phi Phi Holiday Resort there’s a rocky/sandy small walkway/ road that goes to the right on a 45deg angle. Walk the path another 30 seconds and you should see some Thai men in old wooden stand waiting with their motorbike with side car. I suggested 100ThaiBaht which was a yes, so I imagine you could bargain to 50TB if you want to bargain.
It was a fun ride along a well made and cleared concrete track, views of sea and mangroves and over a lovely locals bridge. I asked to be taken to supermarket. There were a couple of other such vehicles there, waiting.
I arranged for the man to come get me in 1.5 hrs to take me back to Laem Tong.
The village behind the SAiii Phi Phi Village Resort looks like they do it tough in low season - the entire beach is used by the Resort and is private so no other reason for tourists to come to this beach - the villagers are at the mercy perhaps then of the guests of this resort to venture out … I bet they’d get the food and massages at half the price though … that’s what I like to.
Stock up on your water, snacks, creams at the mini supermarkets!
Back at Laem Tong, enjoy a beach almost to yourself!
Eat at the place right next to Erawan Resort, packed at night, right on beach, cheap and sooo good any time of day- kitchen right there in the hut.
Barely any boats - quiet and a real paradise is this Laem Tong Beach. I hope I can handle the quiet!Written 8 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
