What travellers are saying
- Genevieve L33 contributionsWorth the price of admission demonstration. The artist made 3 items: a plate, a sculpture and a balloon. The benches were comfy and I appreciated the voice over about the history of the location.Written 14 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kai CHalf Moon Bay, CA1,269 contributionsNicely restored church dating back to the barbarian invasions of 9-12th century, still in active use. - WFBTraveler3Milwaukee, WI200 contributionsAn opportunity to watch artisans at work and purchase something directly from its creator. There are numerous shops to purchase Murano glass in Venice.I would only go to Murano if you are interested in something different from. the ordinary.Written 18 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JeremiahEcksBristol, UK169 contributionsMurano is the famous island of Murano Glass, and you can't do it without a glass blowing tour! This was the one we selected and we weren't disappointed.
The tour guide spoke in multi-lingual dialect for everybody to understand, and the display was utterly fascinating, but it was relatively short for what it is. All that said, the 'surprise' at the end - and the reactions of those sitting down to see it - made it worth it!
There is a shop at the end of the session. The shop was one of the better ones we saw on Murano but eventually there is such a thing as too much Murano glass...
Still, well worth a visit and definitely a 'must do' if you're a tourist to Venice!Written 22 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PavlaPavlaChrudim, Czech Republic6,560 contributionsThe facade of this Renaissance church is entirely brick. The glass chandeliers inside the church are beautiful and a bit unusual. But it is not so surprising, because the church is located on an island full of glass factories. You can see here paintings by Paolo Veronese or Giovanni Bellini, among others.Written 3 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Art PiersonElbert, CO98 contributionsThis Glass furnace (Foundry) allowed us to see the process and gave us a beautiful tour. Then you're allowed to see some of the other pieces and jewelry of course!Written 15 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DorisM3 contributionsThis is our 2nd visit/purchase with this glass factory..last time was in 2004 (a huge two piece glass sculpture of dolphin/fluted top signed by Stefano Toso). Our recent visit Oct 2019 & purchased a beautiful glass vase and the same salesman Ennio Constantini helped us..showed us the glass factory behind the showroom. We can't wait to receive this vase. They have a huge inventory, including Dino Rosin (who died recently).Written 27 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - IA_HawksIowa2,357 contributionsThis facility was part of our Venice Tour and we very much enjoyed the brief 10-15 minute demonstration and explanation of the glass blowing process. It is very impressive how the artists can create a delicate piece in such a short amount of time.
After the demonstration, you are routed to one of their showrooms for another demonstration of the finished products and given the chance to purchase some specialty items at a discounted price.
While the items that are given the specialty discount are indeed amazing pieces, once you agree to purchase something, the shipping cost to the US and the delay in getting them isn't worth it. You can find many of the non chandelier type items throughout Venice.Written 17 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Specialising in lighting there are some fine examples of modern design.Written 21 May 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SMLikestoTravelBengaluru, India277 contributionsWe had booked the combo ticket for the glass museum at Murano and the lace museum at Burano. However we failed to take note of the opening hours and missed out on the lace museum as we reached after 4 pm. Coming back to the glass museum- it is a nice way to see some exquisite glass works and also to know a bit about the history and the development of different techniquesWritten 24 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - James HGreenville, SC48 contributionsEverything about our visit to Berengo Studio 1989 was terrific... the water taxi trips to and from San Marco Plaza to the studio on the island, the demonstration as an 81 y/o craftsman and his apprentice blew a carafe, and our visit to their showroom upstairs where their finished pieces of art were beautifully displayed. Andrea, our guide for the entire visit, carefully explained each step that the glass blower was taking to produce the finished carafe... and how the rich colors were achieved and the skill required for the artist to meld different colors adjacent to each other because the differing melting points of each color. Andrea was delightful and exerted no pressure on us to buy but we were mesmerized and after reviewing many striking works of art, we selected a gorgeous vase which will be prominently displayed in our home as a memoir of our first visit to Venice and a family heirloom. For the remainder of our 3 week trip through Europe, we frequently looked at our pictures and video of the vase with delight. Alessandra in their shipping department kept us fully informed... and the vase arrived 3 days ago in perfect condition. We are thrilled with this beautiful addition to our home, one which invokes many happy memories.Written 30 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
