Hokekyouji is one of the main temples of the Buddhist Nichiren sect. Nichiren is the founder of the sect founded in the twelfth century, one of the newer Buddhist sects that emerged in the Kamakura era together with Zen Buddhist sects.Since Nichiren was born in Boushuu which is now Chiba Prefecture, there are many Nichiren sect celebrated temples in Chiba Prefecture. On New Year's Day of 2017 we visited Hokekyouji one of the most popular religious sites in Chiba Prefecture that attract a large number of people to pray for a good year. There was quite a long queue leading up to the main temple. Along with the food stalls set up during the festivity period there are a couple of eateries. We entered one of them and ordered some oden (stewed vegetables and fishballs). This is a good place to visit to get an understanding of a major Japanese Buddhist temple.

It is a tiny little zoo near where I live. I like that there is a petting zoo included as you can touch and brush some farm animals like guinea pigs, goats and a pig. The variety is of course small but includes red pandas which are not everywhere to find and capybaras which I enjoy a lot. The zoo is very reasonable priced and I got an annual pass as it is very cheap as well.

What i don't like is that some animals are in small cages (birds in the petting zoo area) which is quite sad to see tbh. But it seems like a general assumption in Japan that birds don't seem to need a lot of space as i see this 'pattern' in most of zoos and pet shops.

The facility is a place where visitors can learn that the various products and services that make up our daily lives are not things that we take for granted, but rather the result of the tireless efforts and wisdom of people who invented them, produced them in large quantities and efficiently, and continue to support our daily lives. The facility is divided into several areas, and while it's generally geared toward children, it can be enjoyed by adults as well.
Although the name of the facility is "Science," most of the exhibits are physics-related, with a few chemistry-related exhibits. On the other hand, there are no exhibits related to "biology" or "geology". In both physics and chemistry, there are almost no difficult explanations or diagrams such as physical equations or molecular compositions, but rather, there is a large element of learning through touch and play by replacing them with familiar objects. Visitors can learn that physics and chemistry are still evolving, contributing to the formation of new energy and materials, and serving as the basis for the development of a wide variety of industries. In particular, in the area on the second floor that displays the history of industry, visitors can learn not only about the existence of materials such as electricity, petroleum, and steel themselves, but also how these materials became indispensable to our lives today.
Most of the explanations in each exhibit are in Japanese, but since the main focus is on hands-on experience, even foreigners unfamiliar with the Japanese language can easily use the museum. Of course, the museum is equipped with escalators and elevators to and from each exhibition room, making it easy for visitors with disabilities, such as those in wheelchairs, to use the museum.
Various experiments, such as electric discharge and freezing, are held regularly. The explanations by some of the explanatory staff, especially for children, are not very intonated and are not translated into interesting topics, which may make visitors feel bored even though the experiments are very interesting. It should also be noted that some of the videos are quite old and have not been updated.

As you know, there are many observatory in Tokyo, but the admission fees of any observatory are high, and are crowded almost everyday. Since the it is located in the suburbs of Tokyo, you can enjoy the view relatively relaxed. Its greatest charm point is that the admission fee is free!
In the clean air days of winter, you may be able to see the composition of Tokyo Sky Tree and Mt.Fuji. Many tourists will visit there at sunset on those days. Probably, everyone would like to see the magnificent view, please compromise each other to view it. Of course, it is forbidden to bring fixtures such as tripods.
Although the observatory is surrounded by glass, there is not complete sealed space. On cold days, it is necessary to prepare for it. On the strong windy days, please be careful not to let things be blown by the wind.

I sometimes go to Satomi Park for walking in morning. It is usually not so many people, but some friendly cats are there! It has rose garden and wild chrysanthemum garden. When you are lucky, you can see Mt. Fuji beside the Sky tree, TV tower, over the Edo river. No enter fee is required, just for family picnic!

Need the kids to go to sleep quickly and use all their energy up? This is it! a whole park of both land and water ropes, cargo nets, and wooden structures that would make even Marines think twice. The water course is the most attractive but be aware you will have to climb with your child until you get to the island. Once on the island, you can walk thin balanced boards to keep up with them, but it is doable. They will get wet (don't believe the "may get a little wet" on their web site. Bring a second set of clothes and shoes.

The 2 land courses have 40 stations each! Bring water, lots if water - they won't stop till they do them all.

Enjoy nature with shore bird life that exists around Gyotoku. Aside from the natural park open free, is also present in the form of a cage. This collection can be an interesting place for bird lovers.
