Absolutely amazing, a must see if you are in Naples. We avoided the tourist street guides and bought tickets on the gate (cheaper than the tour guides) and we were lucky enough to meet Raphaelo at the ticket box who offered us a 2.5hr guide for €100 well worth the money. Raphaelo was knowledgeable and took us to all the main areas of interest pointing out many others we would have missed. Such an interesting and amazing place! Well worth a visit. So glad we went and so glad we met Raphaelo. Wear comfortable shoes! Take a drink and food !!! If you have T1DM as I do reduce your basal insulin by at least 20% if not more or put pump on activity mode & take lots of hypo treatments with u just incase x

Most beautiful interior coupled with a tower you can visit for just 2 euros and scope the whole town and beyond. It would appear most visiters don't visit the tower when really it is a must.

The roman forum is a great historical site, usually entrance is purchased together with the ticket to the Colosseum. We had a tour guide bringing us around and explaining the significance of the more important site. Highly recommend to visit with a guide.

Lunch and wine were outstanding after our tour of Pompeii. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Would suggest as a place to go as part of a tour or if just in area. Walking the grounds was nice but wish we could have stayed longer but had to get on a train back to Rome. Should have had wine shipped but a bottle of excellent Amaro made it home in checked luggage. Was a beautiful experience.

This is one of the best preserved homes in Pompeii. To enter, walk along the path INSIDE the park. Do not exit the park and walk along the road to get in. Although much faster, you soon realize that there is no entrance here. We had to enlist the help of a souvenir stand owner for placed a call to let us in. Don't count on this option. You can however exit into the street from the Villa of Mysteries, and the way back to the train station is a much easier to walk through the exit rather than the tough paths within the park. The Villa does have restrooms for your convenience. The frescoes within the villa are first rate and well worth seeing. It is a bit of a walk from the main sites in Pompeii, but if you plan as the last thing for the day, it mitigates any further walking within the park itself.

Wonderful villa in Pompeii, if it is open it is a must visit even though a couple of the items are replicas of the original (Faun statue and Alexander mosaic). The front entrance is beautiful and the layout of the villa to handle both business and personal was very interesting. The mosaics in the house are very detailed and are indicative of a very prosperous owner.

Pompeii's main street. Requires a lot of imagination, but the street is well intact, complete with cross walks and wagon wheel lanes

Large bathing complex for the public in Pompeii. Multi-roomed complex that had space for changing and storing your clothes, different levels of heated baths (cool, warm, and hot) and an ingenious heating system. The stuccoed vaulted ceilings were pretty impressive.

The people of Pompeii really loved their baths! Our tour guide told us this was the largest bathing complex in Pompeii. Like others, comprised of bathing rooms with multiple levels of heat and an impressive heating and moisture circulation system, it was quite the amazing building. I was amazed at the engineering effort put into something so simple yet crucial to the day-to-day life.

Fantastic house of pleasure in the centre of Pompeii.
We were in the queue waiting for Pompeii to open and headed straight to the Lupanar so we had the place to ourselves.
There are built in beds and some 'interesting' frescos to look at!
This is the ground floor business premises. Employees and slaves lived above.

The House of Meander was the highlight of our time in Pompeii. Large frescoes, a courtyard garden ringed with a porticoe, an atrium that would be the envy of any homeowner today, and well preserved frescoes of Greek heroes (Laocoon) and writers (namesake of the home). If you are short on time in the ruins, this is a spot that should be paid a visit.
