Instantly transports you to a medieval moment - or to Westeros if you’re so inclined. Park on the road and walk through the gate to get tip to the castle - don’t expect a parking lot or ticket booth!Written 14 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Karl Q1 contributionA childhood stomping ground we used to throw stones on top to make a wish and one time the combined effort of 4 lads would not budge it. Fascinating to think who built this, why and who is beneath. The cooley peninsula holds a gem here. Love itWritten 28 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Robert S1 contributionSteeped in the history of the troubles that took place in Northern Ireland, the cries of punishment beatings handed down to disobedient members of extremist groups can still be heard on the wind, echoing through the alleys and laneways of the intimidating confines of Muirhevnamore. The friendly neighbours, whose houses may well have become make-shift interrogation centres once upon a time, are all too willing to offer a re-enactment free of charge for that immersive experience into the grim realities of Dundalk circa 1960 - 1998.
Decades later, Muirhevnamore still toils it's way through the fallout of a disenfranchised generation; still rife with unemployment, addiction, social and nationalist aggression, in addition to a general defiance of the law. It's certainly not everybody's cup-of-tea, and it's not advised to wear a balaclava when you visit. Such an act might give off the wrong impression. If you want to see the brutal realities of the repercussions of a civil war however, look no further than Muirhevnamore.Written 10 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Damien F4 contributionsYou would nearly lose your breath by looking at the beautiful altar and magnificent paintings of the Angel's in a beautiful arch over the altar....brilliant coloured stain glass windows and if you're lucky enough to have the sunshining through on a summer's evening....heavenlyWritten 6 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dreamer3018469 contributionsAlso known as Cu Chulainn's Castle and as we have visited the Giants Causeway of Finn MaCool fame, we decided we should pay a visit here as well.
There is no parking or even signposting here so it can be tricky to access the pathway. But once that is solved it is a short walk up a steep drive to the remains of the Castle. The kids enjoyed running around and trying to work out which bit was the living room etc. Quite a bit of broken glass and evidence of small fires in the grounds.Written 28 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
