- mary O4 contributionsNever heard of The Great Ocean Road before but because of Camille with Go West Tours, so many memories from our day exploring the Surf Coast, the Green Coast, and the Shipwreck Coast! Such a rich history in this part of Australia. Thank you Camille for a wonderful day…this trip is a must for those visiting Melbourne who want to get out of the city!Written 16 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 396anitahUpper Coomera, Australia106 contributionsFor the seasoned surfer, Bells beach renowned for its yearly Rip Curl pro surfing competition which attracts the international elite of its sport, offers long waves & big swells that are a board riders paradise. The surrounding headland provides a great vantage point to view the competition or just watch the aerial views on display by the daily surfers who attempt to master the waves. Acknowledgement is given to the land that was first home to the Gulidjan aboriginal peoples. Bells beach has brought great prominence to such surfing legends as: Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning, Mark Occhilupo. Its iconic long winding, wooden staircase & stunning sunsets make for a photographers dream. This is a must stop in Torquay along your drive on the Great Ocean Road.Written 7 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul LHallam, Australia946 contributionsEven if you aren't a 'waxhead' you'll probably get something out of this given the prevalence of surfing in Australian culture and if you are a waxhead then you'll really enjoy it. There are displays talking about the birth of surfing in Australia and there are old boards, new boards, information about construction techniques, old books about surfing and videos about the subject.
It's cheap enough and well laid out enough that even if you don't know your tow rope from your leg rope you won't have wasted your time.Written 25 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JudeTorquay, Australia598 contributionsThis beach is most lovely to stroll along, clean, long, good surf and incredibly dog friendly! But if you are a little nervous of nudity on the beach this is not the place for you. It is one of the nudist beaches in the region so consider that before going there. But highly recommended, not crowded and very peaceful. Remote from the township of Torquay so no shops or facilities apart from a basic toilet block at the car parking area. Access to the beach over soft sandy paths meandering through the sand dunes.Written 8 April 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CodyDCWashington DC, DC5,937 contributionsThis was our first stop as part of our Great Ocean Rd tour from Melbourne. We had about 20 minutes to explore the beach on a rainy morning, but it looked nice. It also broke up their walk along the coast which was nice. There is toilet facilities as well as a drink fountain to fill up your bottles. We spent close to an hour here before continuing with our walk.Written 10 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Casual vibe. Great beers at reasonable prices on tap. Live music, friendly atmosphere everyone felt welcomed even the furry friends. Huge screen with sport showing without taking over the venue. We meet with mates and enjoyed tasting a few beers, wine and spirits were also served at the bar.
The food van in the beer garden provided us with some great share food spicy wing and crispiest chips they were delicious.
