What travellers are saying
- Steven McDonald2 contributionsI recently had the incredible opportunity to embark on a horse-riding adventure with the Manchu people in Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, leading us to the enchanting Princess Temple.
The Manchu guides warmly welcomed us into their community when we set foot in the national park. Their deep knowledge and passion for their culture were evident as they shared stories and anecdotes about the history of the Princess Temple and the significance it holds for the Manchu people. Surprisingly, their English was very good so we didnt need to use translation devices.
As we mounted our horses and set off on our journey, the Manchu guides led us through the park skillfully, showcasing their exceptional horsemanship skills and deep connection with these magnificent animals.
Throughout the ride, the guides shared fascinating insights into Manchu traditions, customs, and way of life. They explained the historical significance of the Princess Temple, recounting the love story between the Mongolian prince and the Manchu princess and the tragic events that unfolded. Their storytelling transported us back in time, allowing us to appreciate the cultural significance of this sacred site.
Arriving at the Princess Temple was a truly awe-inspiring moment. The temple, surrounded by the remnants of brick walls, stood as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Manchu people. The guides explained the architectural features and symbolism behind the temple's design, deepening our understanding of Manchu culture and spirituality.
The horse riding experience with the Manchu people in Gorkhi-Terelj National Park was not just a thrilling adventure but a transformative journey of cultural discovery. Through their expertise and genuine enthusiasm, the Manchu guides provided us with a profound understanding of their traditions, values, and history.
I left Gorkhi-Terelj National Park deeply appreciating the Manchu people and their enduring connection to their cultural roots. This horse riding experience was a gateway to a world of ancient traditions and a reminder of the importance of preserving and celebrating diverse cultures.Written 9 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The top two floors are particularly interesting with a beautiful array of national costumes. The only drawback would be the lack of English information. An english speaking guide through this museum would have been great.

Was previously called Sukhbaatar Square after Damdin Sukhbaatar, a Mongolian revolutionary hero but renamed Chinggis Square in 2013. There's a large colonnade monument dedicated to Genghis Khan, as well as to Ögedei Khan and Kublai Khan, dominating the square's north face. I arrived during Mongolian New Year so everywhere was closed sadly.Written 12 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alessandro FMilan, Italy26,346 contributionsWith his 40 meters high, this is the highest equestrian statue of the wort ( record that will soon be surpassed by the giant under construction in Mumbai with 212 meters of height dedicated to Shiv Smarak )
The completely iron equestrian statue was build in 2008

Was very quiet the day I went in, early on a weekend morning, so it was very nice to walk around and take it all in, in my own pace and with little noise......all very peaceful and reflective.
Enjoyed the hour or so I spent here.Written 23 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The complex looks like an ancient temple but it was built in 1908.

- triotravellersAustralia11 contributionsIt is a monument at the top of the hill so don't get yourself too worked up with expectations. The Soviet style mural is good and the view across UB is very good. A tip: You can avoid most of the steps up to it by entering the nearby shopping centre and taking a lift to the top which has a walk-way across to it.Written 15 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
