Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

At no time was there anyone on Reception ! On arrival my husband had to find the kitchens and ask someone for our room key. Our passport was taken for the details to be taken, how very old fashioned. Our room was nice but there were ants literally all over the floor and bedside tables. After dinner we were told quite rudely that we had to pay Now ! as there was no-one on reception in the morning (nor at any other time, frankly!) My husband had the presence of mind to go behind the reception desk to retrieve our passports, only to find them in another guest's cubbyhole ! I can only imagine the possible consequences of that error. They wanted full payment, including the Ant room which we had prepaid in February. The poor Italian waitress who helped us was very embarrassed and we felt sorry for her. They had no record of what wine or drinks we had so she let us have them gratis. What an utter shambles. Zero management. Which is such a shame given the lovely venue and great chef. Come to eat, but think twice before staying.

We have travelled eaten and stayed in many different properties in Italy over far too many years to mention. On our frequent travels from the UK via France/Switzerland/Italy and on to Greece we look for smart well run dog friendly and relaxing places with private parking. We like to be less than 15 minutes from the Autostrada. Gourmet food on top is a bonus. This stay was an absolute delight. Easy to find - an excellent spacious room well equipped and super clean. What absolutely blew our minds was the restaurant quality of food and service. A truly exceptional, outstanding four course meal - paired with excellent wines. The service from our waitress was a joy - whilst not the most experienced she took delight in serving, was helpful and utterly professional. We can say that this is probably finest food we have eaten in Italy in forty years. What capped the entire stay off was the meal element was around €100 - for what would be probably three times the price in the UK.

The heart of this ‘relais’ is, without doubt, the excellent restaurant, and by extension, the team who look after one so well. The food was a combination of classic italian cuisine mixed with a variety of local dishes, all expertly prepared and beautifully presented. A fine selection of Italian wines, reasonably priced, accompanied the menu. We cannot speak highly enough of the warmth and friendliness of the two ladies managing the restaurant. There is the option of dining indoors or ‘al fresco’ in the nicely maintained courtyard, weather permitting. With the aid of GPS or the instructions provided by the ‘relais’, the premises are fairly easy to locate, and offer a good base from which to visit nearby towns and villages, especially Parma and Cremona, before returning to the calm of the countryside and a relaxing dinner. Our room was well equipped and spacious, and we enjoyed the style with which the rooms had been tastefully decorated and furnished. Wi-fi connections worked brilliantly. Parking was easy and secure.

Awesome staff, very friendly and very helpful. Really nice rooms, clean and cosy, rustic interior. Hotel itself situated in beautiful landscape with gorgeous garden, very clean, much detail for interior design, tranquility is key. Breakfast is awesome, eggs and fresh orange juice, fruit and bio yoghurt, etc. Dinner is of high quality, great food.

Lovely old hotel. Rooms very large, traditional but with modern lighting and features. See pictures for more info. Nice restaurant on site and hotel is in great location just off the motorway. Just 60 euros for my stay. Great value.

My friend and I stayed at this hotel on a road trip from the UK to Greece. It was a chance find but it turned out to be amazing with first-class accommodation, wonderful decor and the food was exceptional. We're definitely going back again! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here. It will be a memorable trip!

The hotel was chosen for a professional meeting. However for various reasons I would not recommend it for such a purpose. First, it is difficult to find, even for navigation systems. The indications at the road are just far to small to be easily perceived. Second, the meeting room was not a meeting room, but most probably a small wine tasting room next to the restaurant. It was close to impossible to set up there the workshop equipment and totally impossible to move and have interaction - room too small and table too big. Under such suboptimal conditions it was not really an additional disturbance that from time to time somebody walked in to fetch bottles of wine needed in the restaurant. They really should not offer themselves for meetings if they do not have adequate space available. I do discourage anybody who wants to go there for a professional gathering which is not primarily dedicated to wining and dining. As for the rooms, mine was large but very dark. With insufficient light it was not possible to do work in the room. Other rooms were in a separate building and my colleagues did not express themselves enthusiastic about their quality neither. Overall, an unpleasant experience in any sense.

I've been there for work, not on Holiday; the place is nice overall in a country environment Dinner and lunch are very good, typical food of this area, the breakfast doesn't follow the same it was ok but quite cheap and a lack of fresh food. The room are ok but a bit basic. It's too much noisy for me because it's in the midlle of the countryside ... but hidden by the trees there is the motorway

Quaint old hotel. Established in the early 19th century Very good Italian cuisine but not available every day (depends on the bookings) Very clean and healthy surrounding Large clean rooms, high ceiling - no fans or air conditioning but not necessary Comfortable beds and pillows Good bath tub and fittings TV channels limited to Italian fare only. International programs are aired but dubbed in Italian Dnner is pricey - celebrity chef ! Rooms have names (of past family members) Limited number of people who can converse in English Not suitable for movement impaired people (no elevators) No laundry facility (and no launderomat) If you stay here you need to have means of transport because it is a little away from town Very close to the highway

Hotel is a in the countryside, which means it was nice a quiet. The decoration is to a high standard, but in a rustic design. The rooms were large and comfortable. The restaurant in the hotel was very nice. The wine menu was vast! Really good selection. Breakfast was simple, mainly pastries, baking etc. but the baking was very good as it was done by the restaurant chef.
