Where do I start, I travel a lot around the world due to my work, especially across Europe and I have stayed in every type of hotel & accommodation you could imagine. Ranging from basic convient bed & breakfast to high end luxury 5 star plus hotels. However My fiancée & I ended up staying at Hotel Berlino as part of a “secret getaway” present, so we had no choice on the accommodation as it was already part of the package & gift. We hadn’t been to Milan together, although I had been on a quick work trip where I stayed for one night and didn’t really visit any sights or do the general tourism trips. Hotel Berlino is way off the beat and track, in a neighbourhood which is quite run down, rubbish everywhere and graffiti on every other building, wall, shop and restaurant. It doesn’t look pretty at all. The hotel is average at best, very dated and basic rooms with no vibe, ambience or love. However we had lots planned and it was merely a place to leave our bags, sleep and wash. With that said, we found the staff to be dismissive, unfriendly and quite rude, bearing in mind they are in customer service roles and we the customers should be the most important factor in their jobs. This was not the case, anything we asked, for example directions, they almost couldn’t be bothered, it wasn’t a genuinely friendly or welcoming service. I haven’t experienced this in other hotels across most parts of the world. The place needs a refurb, it’s old, tired and dull and so are the staff at reception. Our first impressions of the hotel and Italy itself were in their hands and they really need to understand how important a warm friendly welcome is. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone and also Milan itself was terrible, people looked depressed, unhappy and came across as rude. It’s a dirty city lacking love and character. Whoever puts Milan in the same category as London, New York and Paris is way off, Milan doesn't compete in any way, shape or form, it just so underwhelming. Something else to note is that the walls in the hotel are thin as paper, you could hear anything and everything people were saying in other rooms literally every word, cough, laugh or movement, be ready for that because it really difficult to sleep with so much noise. The rooms however were cleaned everyday so thank you to the cleaning staff you done a great job and cleanliness was not an issue. So all in all, I wouldn’t visit Milan or Hotel Berlino again, However we LOVED our day trip to Lake Como (Varenna, Menaggio and Bellagio) it really is a gem and beautiful throughout, so scenic, romantic and the total opposite of Milan. My recommendation is to Skip Milan and go straight to Lake Como!! Sorry Milan, never again and from the other reviews I’m not the only one!!!

We were booked here thru a travel agency. It was last night of trip and we’re were to fly out next day. We arrived by 8pm. Room was clean. Cannot say much about the neighborhood as we were here briefly. The hotel only allows you to have AC between the hours of 10 pm and 3am- mind you we visited in early September and it was still hot weather. We inquired after 10 pm on two occasions about the AC, each time the front desk attendant said the AC was working and hung up. Fortunately we are here for one night and will not be back.

Dear customer, we are sorry to tell you that what you wrote is not accurate; the air conditioning is NOT on only from 10pm to 3am at night, it is also on in the morning and afternoon, with pre-established time breaks. You arrived just before 10pm and we told you that the air conditioning started at 10pm and so it did. Nobody hung up the phone! So we don't understand what you're complaining about, but if you don't come back we'll try to survive.....

Experience is horrible from the first second to the last. Receptionist took our payment twice, ourn room wasn't ready when we arrived so we had to wait in a hurry 15 minutes – and the room wasn't cleaned properly. It was very untidy. Air conditioning wasn't working and the promised double bed was just two single beads next ti each other. And the beds was sounding like the explode any time soon to the millions of pieces. And there was no blankets, even receptionist wouldn't give those for us when we asked. Breakfast was adecquate

Dear customer, you wrote many things, you wrote that the room was not ready yet, but you forgot to write that you arrived at least an hour and a half before the check in time. You wrote that the air conditioning didn't work well, but you just had to ask at the reception. You wrote that you wanted a blanket, but we told you that in the warm season, blankets are sent to be washed to keep them ready for the winter. If it was this hot, what was the point of the blanket? To cover yourself from the air conditioning.....that wasn't working? Last thing, all rooms have two mattresses which are joined or separated depending on the booking. We hope to have clarified the picture of the situation....

The receptionist did not understand English, he was unfriendly and the bathroom had a bad smell. The worst, after I gave them a review and evuated them 5 out of 10, they sent me a message in Italian that next time to go to another place!!! Very unprofessional!

This is a basic hotel, too far from the city centre for a short break. Beds' were clean but sadly that's the only good thing about it. Staff not very helpful or friendly. Underwhelmed by Milan - too much graffiti, unfriendly, rude and unhelpful people everywhere. Won't be back

Tourist hotel in Milan. Cab ride to/from Milano Centrale (about Euro 20). Hotel decorated modernly, with street artist vibe paintings in stairwells. Rooms adequately equipped. Bed was comfortable. Some noise from other guests, particularly when returning late at night. Hair dryer noise can be heard in halls. But considering price, these issues are expected. Public transport to most major tourist destinations is close and economical. Front desk was helpful in locating the #1 trolley to the Fort and downtown to the Doumo. Breakfast choices were adequate. Breakfast room was kept clean and well stocked. This is an Italian, not an english or american breakfast. There is a self-serve laundromat about 3 blocks away, which made this a great stop halfway through our Italian tour.
