We first stayed at the Hotel Hermitage in 1986 and have returned several time. We love it there and will certainly return. The location is perfect for walking around the historical center of the town. The rooms are comfy and the staff is simply wonderful. We had a room with a river view that comes with the bonus of Ponte Vecchio. Breakfasts are nice. The restaurant is a new feature since we last visited and we ate there a couple times. It was excellent. We would highly recommend the Hermitage if you enjoy a small hotel and do require a concierge, a pool, etc.

Hotel Hermitage is a fantastic hotel, literally steps away from the Ponte Vecchio and a few minutes' walk from the Uffizi Gallery and the Piazza della Signoria. The front desk staff were terrific -- thank you Paolo, Federica, and Vitoria -- and even helped us figure out a nearby location where we could get picked up by our car transfer to the airport on the day of the Florence Marathon, despite most of the streets in the city center being closed off! Our room was charming and well-appointed, with plenty of space for my wife and I and our two kids. The rooftop restaurant, Osteria delle Tre Panche, was outstanding for dinner -- in addition to excellent cuisine, there's a wonderful view of Florence. The breakfast service on the 5th floor offered a great cup of espresso to start the day, and the lounge (also on the 5th floor) was a very comfortable place to relax and socialize. Top marks -- we will be back!

Shower head did not work, very tiny bathroom and room. Staff were very nice and helpful. Stains on bedcover. Tiny elevator. Did not have a proper hotel entrance. Reception/office at the top floor. Companion restaurant was nice. If central location is a primary requirement, this one is located in the heart of tourist attractions.

This hotel is a good 3-star hotel with very friendy service, OK rooms (with ac) and a small breakfast room with a small but fine buffet. The location is top - in the middle of everything you want to see and experience. A good pick in central Florence!

We spent 5 nights at Hotel Hermitage. On the first night, we killed a small bug on one of the fabric headboards but thought nothing of it. The next two nights, we saw a few more bugs on the beds and we had a few bites, but thought they were mosquito bites. It was not until the 4th night that we were completely inundated by creepy crawlers all sizes that woke us in the middle of the night, and after closer inspection using our cell phone flashlights, discovered that the old, dusty fabric headboards of both beds were infested with BEDBUGS!!! We quickly pulled the beds away from the headboards and stayed awake all night killing bugs that kept appearing on the covers. The next morning, I went to the front desk to complain and to show the clerk the large red raised bed bug bite on my face just under my left eye and the bites on my hand. I also showed her pictures of the blood-filled bugs that I killed and the bugs and larvae in the fabric of the two headboards. The clerk grimaced and apologized. She quickly got in the phone to call an exterminator. I asked her for keys to another room since we still had another night’s stay. I was advised that there were no rooms available until after checkout for a guest at noon. She asked us to vacate the infested room, which we gladly did. However, now we had no place to secure our valuables and luggage. We changed our train tickets to a day trip to Pisa and waited for the other guests to vacate. Because we could not wait for the room to be cleaned, we had to push our luggage into the new dirty room so that we could catch the next train to Pisa. I asked the clerk if I could speak to the manager about compensation for this gross inconvenience and our itchy, painful bug bites (most in places that we could not show or photograph) and for the most likely infestation of our personal belongings. I was offered a bottle of wine and told that the manager probably would not be in that day or the next. I told her wine was unacceptable and that I at least expect to be compensated for the prior night that we spent sleepless while being bit. The clerk got upset and surly, stating that we should be glad that they gave us another room! This was so ridiculous….. Why should I be grateful for another room? Did they expect us to spend another night with the bed bugs or were we simply going to be thrown into the streets of Florence??!!! This hotel is centrally located to all the tourist must-do’s. However, be very aware that this particular hotel is old (like the city), dusty and the staff is nonchalant about what I considered a very serious issue. The clerk rudely stated that the bed bugs are not THEIR problem. I beg to differ. The hotel is certainly responsible for the health and safety of its guests, and any housekeeping staff should be properly trained to look for this sort of thing when servicing rooms. I would NEVER stay here again!! We travelled in to Rome but before checking into our next hotel, we thoroughly went through our clothes and belongings. This put a damper on our vacay and has made us extremely paranoid. :(. Beware!!!

In choosing a hotel, my wife and I usually prioritize location, cleanliness, air conditioning (in warm climates), and, to a lesser extent, having an included breakfast. Since we usually only use the hotel to retreat to after a long day of touring, we don’t need many extra amenities at the hotel. Hotel Hermitage has an excellent location, very close to some of the major sites such as the Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery. Our triple room had two A/C units which worked well. Good breakfast options. The staff was especially nice. Would definitely recommend to anyone touring the area. Hint: Make dinner reservations ahead of time at the excellent rooftop restaurant, Osteria delle Tre Panche.

This is a quaint hotel in a PERFECT location, right next to the Ponte Vecchio. Our room was small, with antique furniture that really goes with the vibe of the city and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was tiny, but had everything we needed (though adding a shelf would be great since there is no space to put stuff). The one big con for us was the noise. we were in room 412 right below he restaurant and we could hear chars/tables being moved and dragged until 12:15am. That started again promptly at 7am. We only stayed one night, but I would have been really unhappy to have to deal with this more than one night. I guess rooms 413 and 414 are the same, so I would avoid them. I would definitely go back and stay, but only if i was on a different floor.

Great location of the hotel! We had a room with Ponte Vecchio view… and thats about it😏 rooms are quite small, odd smell of something ( either old or paint) bathroom is quite tight, water pressure occasionally… breakfast is quite poor in a very tight space, not using the terrace above the building . Lots of noise in the evening from terrace / storage/ kitchen even on a lower floor

Nice location at the Ponte Vehicco and super close to the Uffizi Gallery. The location is good for doing the typical tourist items. We are a family of 4 and our travel agent made the arrangements. Had to book 2 rooms. Hotel has a nice breakfast area and items and they also have an evening meal if you so decide to eat there. We didn't but did notice that it was quite busy. Street noise could be heard, so if you are a light sleeper, might not be the place for you.

The “bathroom” in our room is a 3 by 5 closet with toilet, sink, and shower. Super cramped. No sudden movements allowed. The water in the shower doesn’t get hotter than lukewarm and runs at a low flow rate. Very small bars of cheap soap. No conditioner. The last time the bathroom was updated: sometime in the 20th century. Our room was quite small and with old furniture. Minuscule TV. Beds ok but basic. Clean. Lots of noise throughout the hotel, from the restaurant upstairs (stops at 11:30pm) and from all directions until the last guest is asleep. No ground floor entrance. That’s means that you have to carry all your luggage up a steep set of stairs to the second floor where you will pile into a tiny elevator — once it comes. Breakfast ok. Eggs were dry. Condiments and champagne were provided upon request. Overall friendly staff. Fantastic location. Fantastic location.
