I stayed at Boran Southa, aka Green House Guesthouse for two nights in November 2015. Whilst a relatively new building the rooms were a bit dirty with dried blood stains on the floor in our room and we were woken at 0630 by building work. This aside, $10 a night for a large double room and a cleanish bathroom didn't seem unreasonable to us, although breakfast wasn't included. Upon leaving, however, we were falsely accused by staff and management of stealing the old sheets, towels and pillows and after nearly an hour were made to pay $50 before our bus would leave. It seemed a well rehearsed drill. We were left with no real option as the bus company was in cahoots with the hotel and refused to drive onwards. Also, other waiting bus travellers had onward travel plans and frankly my overriding wish was to leave as quickly as possible due to the threats made by the staff and frustrating nature of the situation. The truth was that on arrival at the hotel we had spilt something on our sheet so we promptly washed it clean and left it to hang on the balcony with our towels so that the small wet patch could dry. Later that day they were removed along with all the other hotel washing on the balconies. We went to reception to inform them and were given two single sheets and one towel by a staff member. We managed, just about, to make these fit over the double bed and made do for the next two days (no intervening room cleaning), not wishing to make a fuss. On leaving town our bus was stopped by the hotel staff saying we had taken the sheet. On explaining the situation this escalated to them claiming we had stolen all of the sheets, the pillows and towels - hence the $50. It would seem sheets are expensive in rural Cambodia. It's a shame that such myopia and greed from the hotel has impacted my view of this region in which so many people depend on tourism. We have experienced some wonderful community projects in the area that seem to be making a real difference in protecting the forests and elephants as well as providing jobs and healthcare for local people. I only wish I could have given my extra $50 to something more worthy. NB: from previous reviews it would appear we aren't the first to have been threatened, extorted and even had money stolen by hotel staff.

We used this place as a stop off before and after going to the Elephant Valley Project for two days. Was around 22 dollars for king size bed in a room with AC, a TV with really poor reception (but a ton of channels), and one of those shower-toilet combos that kind of makes you raise an eyebrow but then you get used to it quickly, especially after sweating like a beast out in the street and in the jungle. Don't think I'd want to stay more than a night or two here. The staff (all members of a family, pretty sure) is nice, and one of the daughters speaks enough English to get you settled in and then off to your next stop. It's a little bit of a hike to some of the recommended places for eating, but gives you a chance to walk by the market and people watch.
